Once upon a spring Wednesday morning Mrs. Drift heard a noise that sounded like a baby bird. Chirp, chirp chirp. Mrs. Drift was worried because the sound was very close and she knew if the sound didn't get further away the chirping may be a baby bird that needed some help.
Mrs. Drift went outside. The sun was shinning, birds were singing and she noticed one very furry feathered bird flapping one wing. Oh, you poor little bird. Don't you worry I will help you.
She gathered a box, grass, and some worms from her newly started garden she deevices to call her new friend Flapper. Well Flapper it's time to get you inside now. Flapper was very happy and appreciated her kindness.
Later on that day Mrs. Drift went to the pet store and bought a birdcage, food, toys and went home to get Flapper on his way to good health.
Months passed by and Flapper wouldn't fly. Mrs. Drift noticed that Flapper would look
out of his window and watch all the birds sing, fly and have fun. Flapper seemed very settled.
Mrs. Drift realized that taking care of Flapper for so long made Flapper afraid to learn how to do things other birds could do. Mrs. Drift decided to let Flapper be the bird that could fly.
The very next morning Mrs. Drift put Flapper on the porch, as she placed his cafe down all the birds came around and was singing and flying around the cage. Flapper seemed frightened at first but then noticed he was just like all of the other birds. He slowly perched by the cage door and started to fly, then sing, then fly with all of his friends.
Mrs. Drift smiled and had tears of joy. She realized helping Flapper was the greatest gift she can ever give but the biggest gift was a lesson she learned. Birds can fly if you let them.
The End
