I just got home from school. Today was rough. Getting back into my routine was difficult. I'm just about to get out my homework when I realize that I was supposed to be at Kyle's house 10 minutes ago. I put all my books back except my English book and tell my mom I'll be back later. Kyle lives down the street so it won't be so difficult if she needs to get a hold of me. I get to his house in 2 minutes tops. I knock on the door. I see him coming through the window beside his door. He opens the door and puts a finger to his lips which tells me to be quiet. His mom is on the phone. She's a lawyer and is always on important business calls. She puts her hand to the part of the telephone that you speak into.
"Hi Ellie! Nice to see you!" She whispers with a smile on her face. I nod in agreement.
"Do you think you guys could just work in the wreck room while I'm on the phone?" She asks.
I'm about to speak when Kyle cuts me off. "Sure mom. Don't worry about it."
We head downstairs to the wreck room. Kyle and I sit on the couch and pull out our books. I can see him staring at me from the corner of my eye.
"Is there something you want to ask me?" I say with a little bit more attitude than intended.
"No." He says "I just wanted to tell you you look really pretty."
I'm blushing. I try to stop but I can't. He does that cute little smile that sends shivers through my body. I smile and look up. His bright blue eyes are stalking me. He's cute. Really cute. No, I need to stop thinking like this. He's supposed to be like my brother. I turn my head back down toward the table so that I'm not facing him. He puts my hair behind my ear as I'm writing something down. Just his touch as me mesmerized. I turn toward him and he is still looking at me.
"What is it?" I say smiling and with a little giggle in my voice.
"You're really cute Ellie. I kinda like you.." He says and sounds very nervous.
I gulp and look towards him. He's looking down almost ashamed of himself. I take my finger and tilt his head up.
"No need to be scared." I say trying to be cute "I don't bite."
He leans in and his lips touch mine. Oh my god. I'm kissing Kyle Maddlin. I'm shocked and excited. He grabs my face and my hands are now wrapped around his neck.
"Wait." I say as he attempts to kiss me again. "Your moms upstairs and if she sees me kissing you she'll kick me out." I say wanting him to deny my complaint.
His hands are wrapped around my waist and he is staring into my eyes.
"Don't be worried." He starts kissing me again after he says this. I kiss him back and we hear footsteps coming downstairs. We act like nothing happened a pretend to get back to work. Kyle's mom, Alison, walks in.
"Hi guys!" She says with happiness in her voice. "Have you gotten any work done?"
"Yep. Lots of work." Kyle says with a snicker in his voice. I giggle a little and he smiles.
"Ok well your mom just called and she said that its time to come home." Says Alison.
"Ok! Let me just gather my things." I say happily.
She closes the door and Kyle starts laughing. He kisses me again and then I walk out the door and head back to my house.
I wasn't expecting that.
