two knocks echoed the bathroom and you tensed up

phil's gruff voice caused you to relax just a bit

❝ you're having nightmares again aren't you? ❞, he says, opening the door and letting himself in

you shrugged, ❝ it's not as bad as before so thats good ❞

he kneeled down to your level and opened his arms. you walked towards him, your head landing on his chest as he brought you even closer

he gently swayed side to side with the occasional ❝ shhh ❞ and ❝ everything's ok ❞

❝ he always hurt her because of me ❞, you finally say, playing with the back of his hair. phil stayed quiet and patiently waited for you to continue

❝ whenever he makes a mistake, he blames it on her but when she goes to work—he blames it on me ❞

you frowned, ❝ when mummy got sick, he was nice to us and took care of her until she was gone—he says it's my fault and hurt me every time ❞

❝ is this why you ran away? ❞

you nodded against his chest, wrapping both arms around his neck. he stood up with you in his arms and walked towards your bedroom

he tucked you in bed before laying next to you, bringing you back into his arms. his chin rested on top of your head

❝ we're all here for you y/n and i will make sure that man will never hurt you again—now get some sleep, it's been a long day today ❞

you obeyed, allowing yourself to relax in your dad's warm embrace and hum in content

❝ g'night dad ❞
