Most of us end up back where we started, wether it be visiting or permanently. The lucky ones get as far as possible away from what they once called home. The question is was I going to make it out... was I Angel Miller going to make something of my life, leave this dead end town, I guess your going to have to stick around to find out.

My jet black hair with hues of blue that shone in the sun looked more unroughly than usual today. I stare at myself in the mirror, going through my plan a hundred times over. I know I have to do this soon, I just hope my secrets don't come back to bite me.

I dropped out of my current school after a series of events. So I have a lot of spare time on my hands, I have no friends currently, my only friend Lucy moved to the UK a year ago, so I mostly spend my time exploring, looking at the few scenic views this town has to offer.

I make my way over to my closet, I throw on a black joggers, oversized hoodie, and a pair of platform converse. Comfort is key. Besides I'm feeling in a better mood, my mums been gone for a few days which means I don't have to deal with her shit. She's just one of the secrets I keep, careful not to let anyone see, let anyone know.

Suppose I have time for a smoothie, I make my way downstairs ready to head out when I heard a crash come through the door.

Fuck sake. She wasn't meant to be home for a few more days.

"ANGEL" someone screamed out
That would be my mum. I usually call her by her name, Emma. A woman like that doesn't deserve the title mum.

With dread I reach the bottom of the stairs to see her laying against the door with a whiskey bottle in her hand.
"Really?, it's 9am, get yourself together Emma".

"If it weren't for you he wouldn't have left, it's all your fault, I wish you were dead." she seethed.

She blamed my dad leaving on me, for what reason I'll never know. He really left because he couldn't handle her anymore, but she needed someone to blame. Someone to take it out on. Just one of the reasons I needed to leave this town, start fresh.

I don't blame my dad for leaving but he left me here with her, and for that I'll never forgive him. Ive been scared to leave which is why I've stayed here and tried to cope with life with her, but I've nothing to lose now. Lucy's gone. What's the worst that can happen.

I ignored her and made my way out the backdoor, I walk my favourite route, down the back street through the woods. Little flowers cover the ground, the sun shines through the trees. My happy place.

I help out at a little bakery, that's how I earn my money. I reach into my pocket to get my change while walking into the smoothie shop.

I collide with something, my change goes everywhere.

This couldn't be more embarrassing.

I look up to be met with piercing brown eyes, My stomach feels like it's doing summersaults, brown messy hair, someone you'd expect to see in a movie.

"Watch where your going next time angel" smirked the brown eyed boy.

"I'm so sorry, I wasn't looking where I was going"

Wait a second how the fuck does he know my name

"Your necklace, I'm not a weirdo" he shouted as he left the shop.

It's as if he read my mind, or maybe the fact my eyes widened at the mention of my name from this boy I've never seen before. Maybe for a second I'd thought the worst, that he'd heard of me from school.

I get my smoothie and head home. I need to think and pack, go over my plan. I walk my favourite route one last time. Careful to take it all in. I don't know when I'll be back, or if I will.

I return back to several broken bottles, spilled liquor but no sign of her. I run upstairs and I pack all the main things I'll need, phone charger, laptop, some makeup, clothes, money, some sentimental things, my ID, toothbrush, deodorant, my journal and other mains bits into a duffel bag.

I take out my phone and text Lucy

"I can't take living with my mum anymore, I've packed some things and I'm heading as far as I can get, when I get somewhere permanent I'll update you with my address, Ill phone you soon, miss you."

I put my puffer jacket and scarf on and head out the door before she gets back. It's dark outside and starting to get cold. I trail my converse along the sidewalks thinking what my next move is.

I always longed for a proper family, those family's that have meals at the table, go on days out, are there for each other.

I've only really ever had Lucy and she's gone now so my best bet is to start fresh. It's hard living with secrets, everyone at my old school knew my business, thanks to that bitch Carly, she always tried to get the better of me but I stick up for myself, doesn't stop her from spreading rumours and finding out stuff about my life.

I see a bus approaching and decide to get on it.

"Hi where is this bus heading" I ask curiously.

The driver looks up at me and frowns.

"M'am there are several stops on this bus, where would you like to go"

"I'll take a ticket to the furthest town" I say looking down.

I head to the back of the bus, and place my bag down beside me.

I sit down with my knees to my chest.

How did it even get to this I'm only 17.

I gaze out the window into the darkness, watching the only town I've even known disappear infront of my eyes.

Before I knew it my eyes slowly closed and I fell into a darkness.
