"I HATE YOU!" My mother screamed out towards my father, "I WISH YOU AND I HAD NEVER MET!" She fled the kitchen to come towards my room. "We're leaving tonight let's go." My mom had just got out of a fight with my dad like usual but this one was different. "You can pack your bags or either leave them I have enough money for the road Christine." I sighed, "Mom, what happened this time?" "Christine we can't talk right now." That is all she said before going to go get her keys. I wanted to say more but I decided to stay quiet because of the tension in the air. I sat down on my bed and looked around, (man I'm gonna miss this place.") I packed my things quickly and began to head towards the car where my mom was waiting. I put my bags in the backseat and hopped in the front so we could get going. We were interrupted by my dad coming out of the house and waving something in the air for me to come get, (a journal?) I got out of the car to go get it and quickly got back into the car. My mom looked over to see what it was, "You should throw that away or put it up I don't wanna be reminded of your dad." I eventually threw the journal my dad gave me in the back seat and looked out the window for half of the ride.
We finally made it to our destination the new house, new life, new beginnings. The house looked extremely old and ragged but manageable. The only thing that was pretty was the flowers around the house. I took the last box in and went upstairs to my new room. Things were beaten down and torn, but only one thing that was on the shelf to the left corner caught my eyes, an interesting heart-shaped key. I looked back around to see all the things I needed to unload, (maybe later my curiosity has gotten the best of me!) I walked outside towards the garden of pretty flowers to try and find some clues about the heart-shaped key, "That key used to be mine." Out of alertness, I turn back around quickly to see who had spoken to me to see a pretty girl with blonde hair, tattered skinny jeans, and a purple shirt on. "Oh, hi! I didn't mean to spook you." I smiled, "it's totally fine!" the blonde-headed girl began to look at the house behind me, "I used to live here those were good times." a hint of sadness showed in the girl's green eyes before she quickly changed the subject, "So, I see that you are new around here right?" "yes, I am new here but what about you?" the blonde-headed girl sighed, "well I have been here for a while now. I just wanted to come back to see this house today and I didn't expect newcomers!" I hummed to her response, well it was nice meeting you!" the blonde-headed girl began to speak once more before I could, "my name is Courtney by the way." "Christine," I said back to Courtney. Little did I know that that one conversation leads to the day I and Courtney became the best of friends, "Hey, that's not fair you're cheating!" Courtney screamed out at me when I made a headstart before she counted to three. My feet slapped against the grass heading towards my house for dinner. Courtney ran right after me trying to catch up with me. I began to laugh and smile, (I can't believe my life has changed for the better I'm so glad I met her she makes me feel like a little kid again even though I'm 17.) When I came back into reality I turned back to see Courtney right behind me trying to grab at me so I could slow down. My mom came out to the porch to see me and Courtney by the steps. "Girls come on inside for dinner!" After dinner, Courtney and I had a sleepover, "we can do each other's hair, nails, and we can even watch movies!" (Courtney seemed extremely happy about this sleepover like it was one of the top things in her to do list.) "Yeah but what do you wanna do first?" Courtney's eyebrows started to push together causing her to look like she was deep in thought as she looked to the side thinking of her next move. Courtney smiled as she got up from off of the pillow she was sitting on in front of me, "Television, " Courtney grabbed the remote as she turned the tv on, "nail polish, " Courtney practically skipped over to the side of the room towards her bag to get various different nail polish colors, "Hair products, " Courtney grabbed a bag full of different hair rollers, rubber bands, scrunchies, combs, and brushes, "And last but not least, " Courtney turned around towards me with a huge smile on her face, "Tons of snacks that will last us the whole night!" Courtney whipped out a bag full of snacks for the both of us as she crawled closer to where she once sat before building a humongous pile of items she brought back with her the first few times. Courtney rolled up my hair after I did her hair, "I'm so jealous of your hair it's so easy to manage!" I sighed, "oh yeah? It is when it wants to be my hair has a mind of it's own." After we did our nails and mini pedicures, we got ready for bed, "we can both sleep in the bed if you want but the floor is fine too whatever makes you comfortable!" Courtney looked at me and shook her head, "Both is fine but I have to go." a mix of confusion formed on my face, "What do you mean?" Courtney was now near the window, "My father is coming and he doesn't like when I'm out late for too long but i'll see you later." Courtney was now sitting on the window, half of her was outside and half was inside. "I'm sorry about not telling you earlier on." Courtney jumped out of the window before I could catch her, her blonde hair came right after her after her jump. "Gosh her father sounds like an assho-," Before I could finish muttering, I almost tripped over a box that was near the window Courtney jumped out of. I got on my knees near the box and scooted up towards it to open the box, as soon as the box was within my reach, I opened it to find many newspapers full of different old crimes back in the 2000's.
