I thought I deserved better than this life, better than the life my parents brought me into at least. My name is Alexis Marie but you can just call me Lexi, that's what all my friends call me, well my best friend. I'm 18 years old and I've had a pretty rough childhood, my school life wasn't too bad but it wasn't the best, nothing in my life has been exactly perfect though. You see, my mother wasn't the best parent out there, she was kind of embarrassed of me and favored my younger sister Elizabeth Ann, she's 15 by the way but she has always been the perfect child for my parents. My father acts like I don't even exist, he never sees anything good in me but he's really good at beating me when I do the smallest things wrong but I've pretty much gotten use to that. I've been the type of chick to stay away from home, trying to prevent getting tortured. Like I mentioned before, I have a best friend, her name is Haylee Marie. We met in Kindergarten, she actually kicked some ass for me at that time because I was being bullied for being fat and every since then, we've been inseparable. Haylee was the only person to see how I was being treated at home, so she decided to bring me home to her family, they were beyond sweet and they accepted me as their own. Most of my life I was at Haylee's house with her and the family, I would even have sleep overs with them, it was nice while it lasted. Wanna know why I mentioned that last part? Well, Haylee was brutally murdered recently. She was found in the woods decapitated and the worst part was her parents found her, they were taking a morning stroll in the wilderness when they both discovered traces of blood on the walking trail, they didn't expect to find Haylee. They called me right after they called the police, I let out the worst cry you probably ever heard in your entire life. My brain refused to believe she was gone, we were literally on the phone last night talking about graduation and what were going to wear but she was murdered days before she could even walk across that stage to receive something she deserved more than I did. I had no one to cry to, my parents were being so damn heartless about the whole situation and at that moment, I knew I was alone and I also knew in two days, I would have to walk across the school stage without seeing her warm smile.
