How very Slytherin of you.
"Green is also a Christmas color, you idiot," I glared.
"You know, I'm ruining my chances with other prospects by going to this party with you."
"Prospects?" Daphne asked.
"Oh, tell us, who does Cassius Warrington fancy these days?" Celeste teased.
"I didn't say I do fancy anyone. I said prospects."
"Same thing," Daphne waved him off. "I bet it's Flora."
"Merlin's sake, no, it's probably Pansy."
"Wouldn't matter, she can't keep her eyes off of Draco for more than five seconds." They continued to debate who he liked while we went to buy the tie.
"I owe you big time," I admitted, handing the clerk the tie.
"I'm mostly joking," he shrugged. "Really, there are a lot worse ways to spend an evening than with you. Spending an evening also in the presence of Slughorn? Now that'll cost you."
"I'm aware." I handed her some money. "Maybe if you're lucky, I'll give you a goodnight kiss."
"A kiss from the Larissa Prince," he gasped, and I rolled my eyes. "My first year self has passed out."
"Shut up," I shook my head, taking the bag from the clerk. "You'd be so lucky."
"I know I would be," he smiled. "Come on, I'll buy you a butterbeer."
"Thank you." We went over to the Three Broomsticks and hung out for a little while before Miles walked up, sitting in the empty seat by Celeste.
"Prince, can we talk?" he asked, leaning onto the table.
"About Quidditch? Because Cass probably needs to hear it too."
"You know damn well it's not about Quidditch."
"Oh, well, then no."
"No?"
"That's correct."
He stood up, walking behind me. "Larissa, come on. Let's just-" He grabbed my arm to pull me up.
"Don't you dare touch me," I demanded, pushing his hand off me and standing up. People at the surrounding tables looked over. "Yes, Cass and I are going to Slughorn's party together. Maybe if you weren't such a dick, I would've taken you." He was livid. Probably more so at the fact that I screamed at him in public, not the whole dick thing. "Let's go." Everyone knew exactly who I was referring to as I stormed past him. I made eye contact with George and paused for half a second before continuing out the door. I heard Daphne, Celeste, and Cassius following me. "He's such a dick."
"Yeah, you made that pretty clear back there," Daphne nodded.
"Should've thrown in a hex while you were at it," Cassius mumbled.
"I would've loved to see that."
"It would've felt nice." We made it back to the castle and were on our way to the Slytherin common room when a few third years ran past. "Hey," I yelled, causing them to freeze in their tracks. "Why are you running?"
"We were told to find Professor Snape," one of them panted, pointing down the hall.
"Why?"
"Some student was hurt."
"Poisoned," the other one explained. "Lacy or Katie or something. They just told us to find Professor Snape."
"Katie Bell?" I questioned. They nodded. I waved them off, turning back to the group. I kept walking to the common room. "Katie Bell was poisoned?"
"Appears so," Celeste shrugged.
"Hey, maybe she'll miss the next game. Then we're guaranteed to win," Cassius pointed out.
"That's a whole month away."
"I'm being optimistic." I pushed into the stone so it opened.
"You're being optimistic in hoping that she's still in the hospital in a month?" I asked.
"Yes, this is me optimistic."
"Weird," Celeste whispered.
"How the hell did she get poisoned?" Daphne asked as we walked inside. I wondered the same thing. Until I made eye contact with Draco who looked like he was about to be sick.
"Hey, I'll see you guys at dinner." I walked over to Draco and sat beside him in silence until everyone had cleared out of the common room. "What happened?"
"With what?" he asked.
"You know with what."
"No, I don't Larissa," he snapped, looking over at me. "How about you enlighten me?"
"Katie Bell was poisoned, and I'm sure it wasn't intended for her."
"Stay out of it."
"Draco, let me-"
"No, just stay the hell out of it. You don't even know what you're talking about." He stood up, but I grabbed his arm.
"I can help you."
"What makes you think I need your help?" he spat. "You know, if I want someone else dead, then I'll come for your help." He yanked his arm free and stormed off. I balled up my fists, turning back to watch what was happening in the water. I must've been there for a while because Miles sat by me.
"Get the hell away from me."
"I just came to say I'm sorry." I scoffed, crossing my arms. "I shouldn't have grabbed you. I just, I wanted to talk about the party."
"It's none of your business who I take."
"I know."
"And jealousy doesn't suit you well."
"I know that too."
"Good, then we're on the same page." I stood up to walk away. He grabbed my hand.
"Larissa, come on." I bit the inside of my cheek. "We used to be friends." I hesitated for a moment.
"We're still friends." I looked back at him with a glare. "At least, if you can start treating me like a human again instead of acting like some possessive douche."
"You know, you're the only one I'll let get away with calling me shit like that."
"It's well-earned, don't you think?"
He smirked with a slight shrug. "I suppose I did get a little upset."
"Right, it was just this time."
"I'm sorry, okay? Can you at least forgive me?"
"I'll think about it." I pulled my hand away and walked up to my dorm.
