Hourglass

When I was young, I fell in love with a girl I couldn't have.
We lived in different worlds and I wanted her to take a second to peep into mine.
I waited too long, the sands were already at the bottom of the hourglass.
Her attention was no longer available, neither was her heart.

Now I'm older, I want to change that narrative.
Time stood still, when I met you for the first time.
I want to share my feelings but I don't know how to start.
But every single word I say, is coming straight from my heart.

The first time I met you,
all you said was 'hey'
It was really just a simple word
But it took my breath away.

You were very fun to talk with
You were extremely sweet and kind.
I was in love with everything you said
You were amazing in my mind.

I always wonder where you are
And I wish I could be there
You're probably so faraway
But I can feel you everywhere

I care for you each hour,
I think of you all day
You're the last person in I think of
Just before going to sleep.

I'm so grateful you're in my life now
And the point is I want you to acknowledge it.
I love you and only you
Though it's hard to believe.
