"A Broken Washing Machine Heart" Dr. Horrible Fanfic

"I'm Not Wearing My Usual Lipstick"

The many clothes of many different textures tumbling through the rows of washing machines filled the small room of the laundromat with subtle yet still existing noises. The type of noise you can hear easily, and yet drown out so quickly. The blond skinny boy and redhead woman were done loading the dryers in with their wet clothes and were now, just simply waiting with not really much else to do.

"Hey." The redhead girl, Penny, said in her joyful voice and a gentle wave to her friend.

"Hey." The blond boy, Billy, said in his shy voice.

The two sit down next to each other on washing machines, trying to figure out how to pass the time.

"So..um you want me to get you some froyo?" Billy asked her.

"No thanks I'm good, I'm not hungry." She responded.

"Oh.." Billy said.

A few seconds of silence passed by the two. "Well, um, is there anything you want to do or.."

He noticed her taking out an iPhone and a pair of headphones from her bag. The headphones looked like the cheap ones bought at a local Ross; pastel sky blue with flimsy wire and two plastic earbuds at the end of them, while the phone looked to be less cheap than the headphones; an apple iphone (probably an iPhone 7?) with a pastel pink, glittery phone case that appeared to be store bought.

"How about, we listen to music to pass the time."

She plugged the headphones into her phone and offered him one of the earbuds; the other earbud was already in her right ear.

"You don't have to listen to anything, honestly my music taste isn't that good-"

"No, I wouldn't mind listening in." Billy replies. A curious smile appears on his face.

"Alright, let's see what I have here." She opened up iTunes and started scrolling down to see what they could play.

Billy peaked in a little to see the selection of songs. He noticed that the selection of singles and albums were somewhat varied in genres; the most common genre being indie music. Some of the bands that stand out were Liana Flores, Billie Eilish, and surprisingly "Lemon Demon" which Was a band that Billy listened to and didn't really expect Penny to listen to as well. At one point, Penny mis-clicked and accidentally started playing the song "Do You Wanna To Date My Avatar?". 

"Hey, this song sounds pretty good-" Billy said only to get interrupted by Penny panicking in embarrassment.

"Wait no, I didn't mean to play that! shoot!"

She quickly paused the song and went back through scrolling through the many singles and albums; her embarrassment still there on her face. As she was scrolling, Billy noticed another thing with her music taste: the one band that he noticed the most, was a singer named "Mitski". Billy has never heard of this "Mitski" before, but he felt like finding a new band to listen to, and so he asked a simple question.

"I see you have a lot of songs by this "Mitski" person. Can we listen to her music?" Billy asked with a hint of shyness and awkwardness.

Pennys face lit up when he asked her that. It was clear to Billy that Mitski was her favorite singer.

"Oh my gosh, yes! Hold on, let me find one of my favorites."

She went to the search bar, and then typed in "Washing Machine Heart" into it. The song appeared and she pressed play. The moment the song started playing, the fantasy began.
