We had a secret;
One that no one else could ever know.
But you were curious;
Too curious for your own good.
We built up walls;
Strong, fortified barriers.
But as time went on
You slowly eroded them away.
And now you know,
But we will never admit that.
And now we need to lie;
tell you that your wrong to protect our secret
Every conversation we had in code,
Every word we said directly that we never thought you would understand
You listened intently,
And took in every word
As months went past,
You were slowly piecing it all together
Until you knew everything;
Now all you needed was proof.
One of us has a way with trickery,
She showed you her tricks;
She told you to pay attention,
And pay attention you did.
You planed an elaborate yet simple trap
Designed to makes us confess
Using all the tricks you had learned,
It was flawless.
When you sprung it on me,
I never suspected a thing.
I played even further into your trap,
Trying to see if you knew.
I played right into your hand,
And I never realised.
Not until my other half
Pointed it out to me.
I was taken by shock, and so was she
You got me bad, and stole all of her tricks
Now we were the ones left in the dark,
Nothing left.
The hours we spent, trying to set a trap for you
To make you admit you knew more than you were letting on
Soon we had your mirrored trap,
But it would all be a gamble.
When we tried to spring it,
You didn't play into our hands
Although the trap didn't work,
We did tell a convincing cover.
And now we live in fear,
Fear that you will expose us,
Fear that you will see through our cover,
Fear that you truly know.
We never expected this from you,
The trickiness, the slyness.
You are far too smart for your own good,
You figured it out so quick!
I now see you in a new light.
