We get back to the estate and stand around talking for a while. I lost track of time and before I knew it, my watch read 12:25am. "It's late, I better get home, my Dad said to be home by 12" I tell them all. Janet nods and Natalie agrees but Robin makes a face. Suddenly her faces lights up. "Hey...I have an idea!" she smirks. I frown and look at her. She runs behind the nearest block of rubbish bins and grabs a black bin bag. I'm getting nervous. What does she have in there? She has a gleam in her eyes. She looks excited and nervous. Her hand reaches inside the bin bag and comes out with a can of what looks like hairspray. She smiles and looks like shes about to burst. "What is it?" Janet asks her. "What is it? Are you serious? Ladies...I am about to introduce you to the world of something exciting, something worrying...something full of buzz!" she says to us in a hushed voice. "This is GRAFFITI!".

Robin hands me a purple spray can, Janet a green one, Natalie a blue one and keeps a red one for herself. "What should we do with them?" Natalie asks her. "Don't tell me you've never used graffiti before" Robin laughs. Natalie, Janet and I shake our heads nervously. "Well there a first time for everything!" Robin says smiling straight at me. "Huh Cat?". I look down at the purple spray can in my hands. Something feels wrong. But I can't wimp out now, Robin is counting on me to live up to who she thinks I am. I lift my shaking hand and Spray a straight line across the shed where the bins are kept. Robin nods encouragingly and eggs me on. I spray a circle on top of the line. Then I spray some petals on the circle. "A flower! Thats cute Cat!" Robin smiles like its the most normal thing in the world. Janet is outraged. "Cat!" she hisses when Robin turns her back. "What the hell are you thinking? You could get in serious trouble for this! Imagine what your Dad would say". I scowl. "Thats just it Janet! For once I don't want to worry about trouble, or what my Dad would say! I want to just...be free" I smile despite the situation. She shakes her head. "Call me tomorrow" she thrusts her spray can at me and walks away, followed by a scared looking Natalie. I huff. "Be that way!" I shout. I turn to Robin. She has obviously had alot of practise in this. She's spraying full scenes onto the shed building.

I look at my watch and it reads 12:25 am. I slap my forehead. Curfew. "Robin, I was meant to be home half an hour ago! I really have to go now" I tell her. She sighs and rolls her pretty green eyes. "Fine, fine, lets get you home cinderella!" she laughs. She walks me to the house and I turn to her just as I reach the door. "Thanks Robin, this had been...a really fun night!" I smile at her. She grins. "I had fun Cat! Maybe we could do this again". I nod. "That sounds great!". I open the front door and walk inside. Its dark except for the sitting room light. I tip toe across the tiles and avoid the creaky floorboard. Just as I reach my bedroom door I jump in fright. "Katrina Rose Donnelly!" Dads voice booms. I face him and try to smile. "Hi Dad". He stands up and scowls. "Do you know what time it is?". I look at my watch. "12:30 Dad" I say truthfully. "And what time did I say to be home at?" he huffs. "Em...earlier than now?" I offer. "Yes Cat! Earlier! You disobeyed me! Why?" he looks dissappointed. I pull a face. "I was out with Janet and Nat and we met this new girl called Robin from the Rainbow estate and we were having such a good time, we lost track of time" I explain. I delibrately leave out the part where we violated public property. Dad frowns. "Well...I can see how that could happen...Ok Cat you're off the hook for now. But I'm not happy with you" he raises his eyebrows. I nod understanding. "Thanks Dad...I'm sorry" I say and go into my bedroom.
