When it finally clicked in my head I didn't have enough time to respond before Ethan.
"So, you must be the new kid" Oh my god could he be more rude. I was about to talk once again, but I was cut off again.
"What makes you think that?"
"Never seen you around before. Its kind of a small town" were they seriously about to have a full blown conversation right here?
So it was my turn to intrude "You need a ride or what?"
"Yes, Please" he then turned his attention to me. "That would be great"
I turned around not even bothering to see if he was following me. I started walking to my car.
"How'd you get yourself stuck out here in the first place?"
"Oh, you know, went for a walk and got lost" he waved his hand as to dismiss it.
"Perfectly reasonable" I smiled and he kind of just looked at me. I then started the car and we took off. "How was your first day of school?" I decided small talk is my best shot at not having silence.
"Good. Is everybody here so... straight forward" I laughed. I never noticed it before, but I guess we are.
"Not everybody" I shrugged my shoulders and smiled. He looked at me with that look again, but I just shrugged it off. "Here we are!"
"Thanks" he opened the door "See you at school"
"Totally" I watched his back as he walked into his house before driving the rest of the two houses down.
Later that night I was doing homework. My mom wasn't home, so I was alone.
Then there was a knock on the door. I walked towards the door slowly, felling like one of those girls in a movie. Then realized I probably looked stupid and opened up the door.
"Ryan?" OMG it was almost 10:30 "What are you doing here?"
"Can I come in?"
"Sure" I opened the door all the way so he could get in. "Um...what did you say you were here for again?"
"I didn't" he turned around and was facing me.
"Oh, ok" I rolled my eyes sarcastically.
"Well, you see, you're pretty much the only friend I have in this town. My parents are the only ones home right know, and I didn't want to be in a house with them all night. So, here I am at your house."
"Okay" I turned around to walk back into my living room. "So, what do you want to do?"
"I have an idea" he followed me into the living room, but didn't sit down. He gave me a smirk "Go get dressed"
I knew my eyes got bigger. "What am I supposed to wear!"
"I don't know something nice." He shrugged his shoulders. I dropped mine in defeat, and headed up stairs. I decided on a tank top with a sweater over it and a pair of shorts, with sandals. I brushed through my hair and went back down stairs.
I found him in the living room. "Ready?" he gave me a once over then looked me in the eyes.
"Yeah, come on" We both headed for the front door.
"Hell no!" I'm sure I was staring at him like he was crazy.
"Why not? It's just a motorcycle" he was laughing at me! That jerk! Don't get me wrong I like motorcycles, in fact I love them my dad used to have them around all the time. The only thing is I've never drove on before. Seeing the way my dad used to lean and jump, it scares me. "You act like you've never seen a motorcycle before!"
"How do you know I haven't" why did he find this so funny!
"I saw the pictures in your living room" he looked at me and smiled, at least he wasn't laughing anymore. "Nice pigtails by the way" he smirked and jumped on the back of the bike. He was referring to a picture of me in the living room when I was 5 sitting on my dad's motorcycle. "Come on you don't have to drive"
I let out a sigh of relief, grabbed the helmet, and we took off.
Were he brought me I so was not expecting. He brought to a house. I don't know whose house, but judging by all the cars and the loud music, I'm guessing this was a party.
"This is the party Britany told me about!" I looked at him in confusion. We started towards the house.
He fixed his hair by running his hand through it, me unfortunately has to brush through it with my fingers. Eventually I just put it up.
"Yeah I heard them talking about at school" he gave glance over his shoulder and stopped in his tracks "Are you okay?"
I looked up at him and saw worry in his eyes. "Yeah, I just usually don't go to these types of things." I shook my head and he nodded his in understanding.
"Me either" he opened the door to the house. As soon as we walked in the music and the smell of alcohol got stronger. "My mom wanted a new start, new boys" he shrugged his shoulders "So here I am!" he had to yell the last part because we were walking through what was probably the heart of the party.
We walked around examining the house. It was a nice house. It had a huge living room. We stood there kind of awkwardly.
"You wanna dance?" he turned to look down at me. He had to yell it and I really didn't feel like yelling, so I just nodded.
It started out kind of awkward, but when we got used to the music it came naturally. We danced for a while then he grabbed my hand and started pulling me upstairs. At first I didn't know what he was doing. Then I freaked out.
Holy crap! Is he trying to seduce me?! My inner me thought
Shut up! Youre being crazy!
He did say he was your only friend!
Sometimes I wish my inner me would just shut up! She is super annoying!
He finally found an empty room and walked inside pulling me with him. I know I should have pulled away or something but I didn't.
Idiot!
Ugh!
He finally let go of me and I just stood there awkwardly.
"You want something to drink?" He looked at me. That's when I realized he didn't pull me in here to take advantage of me. He plled me in here just to get away from all the noise. It was a lot quitter up here.
"Yeah, that be great" he walked out of the room without another word, and I just sat on the bed. I don't know whos room this was. Probably a guest room because it looked so plain.
"Well, well if it isn't miss Kaylie" I was frozen to my spot. What the hell was I supposed to do now?
