In just two days Thomas and Darla were going to start their new life together in New York.

In her whole twenty two years of living, Darla didn't think She could be any more hopeful than how she felt now.

Thomas and Darla had been in love for four years.

He was all Darla had.

After her mother had passed away, due to being very ill, her father quit his job and spent his days getting drunk.

Leaving it up to Darla to support them both.

She began working as a seamstress.

Her father, who had loved her mother so deeply, grew to be abusive and spiteful towards the young girl.

Constantly hitting and yelling, there were no limits.

She started to think that she was trapped into this life filled with anger and despair.

Until she met Thomas.

When Darla first laid eyes on him she could not help but  to notice just how deep his pear colored eyes seemed to dive into her light brown ones.

He had the charismatic personality that made being with him feel electric.

When Thomas shared the news that he had managed to secure a job as a factory foreman in the United States, he begged Darla to join him as a new future between them was created.

The both of them began working even harder, sacrificing food and new clothing in order to purchase tickets aboard Titanic.

When the departing day came along, Darla left no traces of where she would be going.

Her father was left behind, completely oblivious to the fact that he would never see his only child again.

Now here they were, on the most elegant of ships known as Titanic.

It was unsinkable afterall.

Within just a couple of days of being here, Thomas and Darla created a routine together.

Attending church after having breakfast, walking around the decks to enjoy the view of the ocean, then playing games in the general room by evening.

By the time nightfall came around, they would be saying their good nights to the friends they had made along the way.

To then settle into their room, falling asleep next to each other.

This particular night however, was a bit different.

It all happened so fast.

Before the sun went down, Darla felt the start of a migraine.

She decided to go on ahead and go back to our room, leaving Thomas with the others playing dominos.

Slipping out of her dress and into a nightgown, Darla crawled in their bed, shutting her eyes as she pulled the blankets over her shoulders.

Suddenly, a loud scraping sound followed by the ship shuddering pierced her ears.

Quickly sitting up, her eyes darted around the dark room.

Her heart began beating so fast as she had wondered what happened.

An eerie silence came over the boat as the engines stopped.

She pushed herself up from the bed, wincing at the sharp, pounding pain that continued in her head.

A bad feeling crept into Darlas stomach as she stood for a moment trying to compose herself, right before slipping on her shoes and putting on her robe that had previously belonged to her mother.

Stepping out from their room, she walked down the hallway, making her way back to the general room, hoping to find Thomas.
