Chapter 1 (Jerk)

SAPPHIRE POV

"Okay, just give me time to think about it" I say to my mom and dad who just finished telling me about Roseville university, they say it's a good school for college, I can take up education like they did. The thing is I'm not interested in being a teacher. Of course they don't know that.

I hear my phone ring and I saw Bree was calling thank god I needed to get out of this situation, "excuse me im going to take this call" and they just nod.

"hheeeyyyyyyy sapppp" Bree sounds cheerful as always, I lay in bed and just stared at the ceiling as we were having the conversation, I told her about Roseville university and that my parents have other plans for me and Bree said not to worry about it and just wait for the right time to tell them about Northside university of arts this is what I love about her she always knew what to say to make me feel at ease.

Oh! I forgot let me introduce myself, the name is Sapphire jones, 20 years old and pretty much into art. My parents used to support me in my painting, sketches and anything related to art well, until I reached the age of 15 they said I had to focus on what's  important. *rolls eyes

Now about Northside University, it has been my dream to go there I mean like duh? The best art school there is, im pretty sure I can meet my type of people there, I mean I have bree and Athena but bree is in preforming arts while Athena is in the fashion department.

I love them, but I do need my own thing which is  arts obvi, I know doesn't sound much but to me? I feel like it's one reason why im still striving to live. I envy bree and Athena I mean they had the best high school where they got to do what they want, but to tell you it wasn't easy for them to convince their parents trust me.

So, here I am laying down feeling hopeless because I know how hard it is to persuade my parents about anything, especially when it comes to my school they are super strict. I got straight A's I mean what more do they want right? I let them torment me for the past 5 years, im 20 and I need to do what I want.

Sigh. Okay then I'll tell them tomorrow.

(Next day)

I woke up at 5 am and went for jog, I mean it clears out my head so I went as early as I can, as I was passing by the neighborhood I saw Athena walking out with a box? Okay? Uh what is this about? I decided to talk to her to see what's up.

"Hey Athena, what's up with the box? I said while panting

"Well, Kendall is going to Northside!! Isn't that great?!!" she said with so much excitement.

Kendall and Athena have been together for 3 years now and Kendall is a great guy to be honest so I don't have anything against their relationship.

"So...the box?" I asked again "oh! Right don't worry it's just a box full of ribbons and fabric so nothing much just putting it out for Kendall when he picks me up" she said while putting the box down.

"So did you tell your parents about the school?" great, now im feeling nervous again. "Sapp, please tell me you did because orientation is in 2 weeks" sigh. "Don't worry about it im going to tell them today" she nods and we said our goodbyes cause she had to get ready to meet Kendall.

I jogged home and saw my mom in the front porch, which was weird because I never see her come out this early I mean it's still 8am she usually wakes up at 10 and goes into her office. Hm weird.

"Mom? You're out early" I said as I walk up towards her, "we got neighbors so I just wanted to see if they are friendly so I came out" she said while looking at the house next door. I just looked at her like she was crazy "mom, you look weird, cut it out" I said while shoving her back into the house.

She rolled her eyes at me "sapp go wake up emerald, eat and get ready" she said while looking out the window "why?" I asked with a (what are you up to) look on my face.

She looks back at me "duh! We will go next door and introduce ourselves now go! Im going to make muffins" I love my mom but she can be very friendly to almost everyone in the neighborhood she  wants to maintain her reputation as the (hey! Look we are a perfect family and we are good people) I don't even know why she tries.

"emerald get up!" I said while taking the sheets off her "5 more mins!" She said while pulling the sheets over her head. So I crossed my arms and I stood there for 5 mins and then pulled the sheets off her again.

"its 5mins get up or else you get the bucket of water again" she finally stood up "why are you even waking me up this early, school doesn't even start for like 2 weeks" she said while rubbing her eyes 

"mom wants us to go greet the neighbors now go get ready, I mean it" I walked out and I can hear her groan.

I got ready and I just wore my blue dress with a blue cardigan because im sure my mom would bitch at me if I wore sweatpants and a shirt. I look at the mirror and I think I look decent enough...

Now we are at the door of our neighbor and mom holding the muffin basket, as she was about to knock on the door it suddenly opens, we saw a boy who looks sooo hot like oh my...

"Hello, we are the jones family, we live right next door and we would like to welcome you to our neighborhood" mom said with the biggest smile, I rolled my eyes like wow...okay.

"Mom! Door!" he just yelled and his mom came down and she looks like a freakin model! Is everyone in that family good-looking?!

"hi im Trina Velasquez and this is my son Elijah, thank you so much for the muffins we appreciate this so much, would like to come in?" she said while opening the door wide open, my mom and dad smiled and went in.

great...

I sat down at their couch just using my phone while they were at the garden chit chatting and probably eating the muffins, then he sat across me, oh no...

Okay im now nervous I hate talking to guys especially hot ones, I just pretended he wasn't there 

"hey" he just said I smile awkwardly, GREAT GOING SAPPHIRE JONES YOU ARE OFFICIALY A SORE LOSER. I mentally slap myself, he laughs softly

"So what's your deal?" he asked which I got confused to what he meant "excuse me?"

"Ah, let me guess the nerd who is still a virgin and who hasn't have her first kiss?" OH HELL NO! I stood up and walked out the door and went home.

What a jerk! How dare he just judge me like that! Who does he think he is! Well, he is right but still! Why would he say that to someone he just met?!

just to let you in a little of my past, athena and bree are the most popular kids who everyone loved in middle school, and you guessed it, im the loser who they saved from getting bullied, I know I feel pathetic but I don't have the guts to stand up to my bullies. Sad right? Yeah I know.

I heard the door open that means family is home, "sapphire! why did you leave like that? they we were looking all over for you" my mom said worried "I wasn't feeling too good" I said "okay then go upstairs and rest" she said while going to the kitchen probably going to get some soup

"Actually, we need to talk" they look at me waiting "it's about school"

Oh boy... here we go.
