(14) when panic set in

Ranboo- "Sorry....just thinking about stuff..."

Sam looked at me and huffed, probably annoyed that I even existed. Everyone else had left, probably letting Sam be alone in peace, or at least trying to. I crouched beside them as well, earning a glare from Sam. I tried to take off the locket around their neck, but Sam grabbed my wrist.

Sam- "What do you think your doing?"

Ranboo- "Let go of me. They made this locket for me."

Sam gave me a skeptical look and pushed my hand aside, making me hiss in annoyance. He gently got the locket from around their neck and opened it, letting the small cat treats fall out. It took every part of me to not lunge and eat them all. His questionable look all but said what he was thinking as he read the inside of the locket.

Sam- "'Ranboo my beloved....'. huh?"

Ranboo- "They.....never got the chance to put my picture in there....I would have let them have it even in death but, I wanted them to know it was finished. I was gonna put my picture in there, so that it was how they wanted it...."

Sam looked at me sympathetically, for the first time.

Sam- "it seems like you two actually did know each other....so here. Finish what they couldn't."

Even hearing that made my eyes water, though I held back tear's.  My face was already going to be scarred like crazy from of the crying. Sam held his hand out with the locket in it, signaling me to grab it. I did so, holding it in my hands and sinking lower to the ground. I held the locket close to me, silent crying. What's a few more scars?

I could feel Sam's eyes on me, though I didn't care. I shifted to my cat form and grabbed the locket in my mouth, running off into the trees.

Sam's pov:

I gave Ranboo the locket and watched him shrink into a bit of a puddle. He cried some more, earning more hisses of pain from his skin. I decided not to ask about that. I was devastated, sure, but also filled with anger. I wanted to hunt dream down and make him suffer. He killed Y/n, before I could even tell them how I felt.

After a minute of me staring at him and holding Y/n's cold hand, Ranboo seemed to move a bit. I straightened myself out, ready for him to speak, but instead was met with a quick cloud of black. Once it went away, which only took seconds might I add, I saw a cat where Ranboo used to be. It was holding Y/n's locket. Before I had time to react, it had run off into the trees, leaving me alone.

I wasn't that shocked, I think the craziness of this day made me numb to everything. I slowly got up, tear's falling onto Y/n's body. I stared at them for a minute, thinking of the things that happened.

Sam- "I'm sorry I couldn't keep you safe fraise.....I'm so sorry..."

The sadness finally hit, causing me to fall against a tree. I stayed there, crying for while. I just wanted Y/n to be okay, and yet I failed. If you tried hard enough, you could probably hear me crying from a while away. My eyes hurt from crying and I felt so damn tired. I decided I would just go home, just sleep. Its what I needed.

I looked at Y/n's body one last time, really trying not to break down again. I finally started to walk back home, face red from all the crying, and smoke coming out of my mouth due to the amount of emotion that I was feeling. My gold armor had streaks of water running down it.

The sun was setting, making my pace quicken. I finally found the walls of L'manburg and walked through them. I then saw everyone standing together. I walked up to them, a bit confused. Wilbur looked at me, tears staining his eyes, as well as most the people's there.

Wilbur- "Are they really.....uhm...."

Sam- "...yeah..."

Tommy and Tubbo hugged tighter and you could hear Tubbo crying into Tommy's shoulder, hurting my soul. Fundy had sad eyes, along with ponk. Niki was holding back tears, wiping her eyes occasionally.

Sam- "you should go inform George. They were like twins you know?"

Wilbur- "yeah I'll....I'll go tell him. You go get some sleep."

Wilbur looked at me and tried to smile, he really tried. Failed miserably, but tried. I nodded, heading for home. I was tired, but I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep.
