"Hey, thanks for offering to help." Mike said looking at you and smiling whilst you wheel your bikes to a home with meat in Mike's bike basket.
"Of course! Henry was the one that ruined it."
Mike delivers the meat to a customer and comes back over to you. "Wanna go find the Losers?" Mike asks.
"I was actually thinking we could hang out? Get to know each other. I only know that you are homeschooled, work on your grandfathers farm and that Henry hates your guts."
He chuckled. "Sounds good to me, I only know that you're in the Losers club, and that you're so beautiful." He mumbles the last bit.
"Sorry, what did you say at the end?"
"Oh uh, nothing important."
I smiled at him and we started heading towards the park on our bikes. We arrived and sat on the grass.
"So Hanlon, tell me about yourself." I start.
"Hm, not much to tell." He responds. This guy.
"Come on! There has to be something interesting about you. What do you like to do? Why do you live with your grandfather?"
He went quiet.
"I um... my parents passed in a fire.." he looks down. I fucked up.
"Oh fuck, Mike. I'm so sorry. That was so insensitive of me.-" He cut me off.
"No, Y/n. It's fine, really. You didn't know. Hell I didn't expect you to know, you were just curious. I get it."
He continues. "I really enjoy watching the sunrise and sunsets. Believe it or not because of homeschooling I never really had friends. Sunrises and sunsets have sort of been my escape I guess."
I smile at him. "That's really sweet, Mike."
"Well, Ms l/n. What about yourself?" He asks.
"Hm, well I love swimming. I don't know what it is, the feeling of the water on my skin, feeling like I'm floating to freedom or the feeling of the water pushing my hair back."
"That's really interesting. You should be a writer, that was really descriptive." He jokes.
"Oh shut it, Hanlon."
We sat around on the grass for little bit longer until we had to go home.
"Hey y/n? Want me to ride with you home?"
"I'd like that but you don't have to."
"No, I insist. It's the least I can do for your help today." He smiled.
We rode to my house and stopped at my porch. I set my bike down and walked over to Mike.
"Thanks for a great day, Hanlon."
"You too, l/n."
"Hey, Mike?"
"Yeah?"
I pull out a pen and grab his arm. I write my number on his wrist.
"Call me." I winked at walked to my door heading inside.
Mikes Pov:
(Wow I know a new pov! Proud? You should be.)
I stood below y/n's porch stunned. Did she wink at me? I stood there for another minute processing everything until I got on my bike and rode to my grandfathers farm. It was only 5:00 so it was before my curfew.
Once I arrived home I ran to the phone, I debated whether I should call her now. Is it too soon? I literally saw her less that half and hour ago. Will she think I'm being clingy? JC what do I do?
I decided to be a man and just call her. My grandpa tells me to never leave a lady waiting.
I hear the phone do it's generic ringing noise until it clicks indicating someone answered the phone.
"Hello l/n residence." a voice answered. That sounds like y/n.
"Uh, hello. My name is Mike, I was wondering if y/n was there?" I wait a few seconds for an answer.
"Mike? Miss me already do you?" y/n smugly replies.
"Oh, hey y/n. I didn't know when I should call you so I just thought I'd do it now." I smiled.
"Well I'm glad you did. I missed you."
"I missed you too." I say softly.
"Well I better go. I'll see you tomorrow?" She asks almost begs.
"Of course!"
"Alright, Hanlon. See you tomorrow."
"Goodnight, l/n. See you tomorrow."
