What Are You Truly Feeling, Hayami?

Start from the beginning

At the mansion, Iruma was holding his jacket with his rank on it. "Ranks, huh? But If I rise up the ranks, I'm going to stand out. But wait... I'm human, anyway. There's no point in me climbing those ranks..." He fell asleep right away as soon as his head touched the pillow. Since Iruma's daily life consists of trying to survive, he actually stays quite still in bed.

Asmodeus was laying on his bed with his hands underneath his head. "What is Iruma-sama? I'm sure it's something so grand that I could never even fathom it! What could it be? I want to know so badly! This curiosity pains me so!" He rolled on the bed restlessly. Asmodeus is fussy sleepy.

"I wonder what they were talking about. It seems serious but lighthearted too. I badly want to know! Maybe I can ask tomorrow? No, they will tell me when they are ready. No need for so much worry." She yawned and fell asleep. Because of her duties and task of moving around so much, she stays quite still in bed.

Hayami was normally quite still in bed. However, ever since she resided in Netherworld, she feels restless. She had a feeling of it, no, she knows it has the connection to the demon heritage and the moon that is making her this way. Recalling that she normally slept during this time when she was back home, and only could be up late if the moon was not in view, it only confirms this theory.

She was walking to the living room where she spots Opera reading a book quietly to themselves. Their ear twitched and they looked out of the book. "What are you up to now? You need to sleep." They put their book down but immediately took notice of her pessimistic mood. "Do you need to talk?"

She nodded.

"Do you need a shoulder to lean on?"

She nodded.

"Would you like to talk about your issue?"

She hesitated, her lips parted then closed before parting again then closed once more with a nod. They patted their seat next to them and she sat down, placing her hands on her lap. They were in comfortable silence for a little while before she took a sip of the hell gray tea, then put it back on the tea plate.

"Opera-san, what am I? Am I really a demon? A half-demon?"

They nodded nonchalantly. "Yes, you are a half-demon."

"Do you know if my mother actually knew she married and copulated with a demon?"

They were silent for a little while before speaking. "Yes, why are you asking these questions? Do you wish your father not meet her?"

She looked back at the tea. "I'm just curious, it's not like I don't hate what I am but the question is—no, never mind the question. I am in constant fear. Fear that I will lose someone close to me because of what I am. I want to protect but I'm afraid to hurt them in the process." She picked up her tea and moved it gently in a circular motion.

"Like Iruma?"

That question certainly caught her off guard. It made her drop the tea and it would have broken if her tail had not caught it in time. "You noticed?"

They nodded. "We have."

"We?" She leaned back against the sofa.

"Sir and I."

Her eyes slightly widened. "It's true. It's because you are afraid that you will hurt him or anyone else, but rest assured, I know you will fair well in the netherworld. If you couldn't, Lord Sullivan, him and your mother would not be allowed you to be here."

"Right." Before she could say anymore, they replied. "Is it because you are in love with Iruma-kun? That's one of the reasons why you also want to protect him too."
