Another day, another rehearsal. East high's second semester play is going smoother than last semester. I sat on the bench admiring Ashlyn portraying Tracy, while Ricky flawlessly hit every dance move, thanks to the help of a certain two choreographers.

"Alright, good, everyone take 5, I have to make a very... important phone call" Ms Jenn dismisses us

"Gina, hey, can we talk?" Ricky comes up to me. "I think it's too late for that, don't you?" I respond, walking away

I enter the bathroom and select a random stall in which to process my emotions. Why is he so eager to speak? He's with Nini, he's content, he had a chance to speak up, and he chose Nini over me. While thinking about it, I shed a few tears. I reflect on how I felt when I saw him at the New Year's party, his eyes locked on Nini's, their chemistry flowing. I still have a feeling inside, buried deep, him. I still love Ricky, I still wish he chose me, I still wished he gave me a reason to stay before Ashlyn did. Avoiding him is the only way to get rid of those feelings, but everytime I see him with Nini, my head gets queasy.

"Gina?" Ashlyn calls for me, "I'm coming" I sing, getting out of the stall and splashing my face with water to remove the red crying stains under my eyes.

"You alright? Your eyes are a bit puffy" Ashlyn questions, "Uh yeah, I just didn't have that much sleep and my concealer came off" I fake smile, making sure she doesn't catch on.

"Inez! Inez! Good heavens, where is my Inez, people?" Miss Jenn calls out. "Right here" I say, pacing into the drama room. "Perfect. Alright everyone let's do 'Run and Tell That' from the top!" Miss Jenn instructs as we get in our places.

I had my solo part now, I belt out the lyrics and dance, not missing a beat. I feel a gaze, an instinct that someone is staring at me, I look directly ahead to see Ricky smiling at me.

Once our dance finishes, I go up to Ricky.

"Hey Ricky?"

"Gina, you were amazing out there! You crushed the role as Inez"

"That's so sweet of him"  I thought, but then erased from my mind. "Stop looking at me, stop complimenting me, stop just.. trying to be friends with me. We aren't and never will be as close as we were last semester" I snapped. Inside, it hurt to cut him out completely, but then I finally just walked away, for the best.

"Gina wait" he grabs my wrist. I yank his hand off, "Don't do this again, Ricky" I order as my eyes become watery.
