Regulus smirked to himself as he closed his eyes.

Regulus: Well, It's a good thing that you can recognize your own failures as a human being, so maybe someday you'll be able to finally improve on them and finally become someone that isn't as pitiful and pathetic as you are now.

When Subaru left Regulus's room, he wanted to dance and sing.

Hell, maybe he'll even honestly thank Regulus for actually helping him! Well....After a lot of convincing.

Subaru has even forgotten all about what happened at the Royal Election!

Truly, Subaru couldn't feel anymore relieved than he is right now, now the only thing left to do is once again recruit the help of Crusch and Anastasia.

It was the day apparantly, Regulus was truly interested if Subaru's Metia could actually tell where the White Whale is or not.

He was currently in a carriage, which was paid for by Subaru to get Regulus to the battlefield.

Regulus heard the driver tell him that they arrived at Flugel's tree, but for some reason Regulus noticed that the man's voice sounded amazed, as if he was looking at something incredible.

Regulus didn't care though as he simply thanked the driver and got out the carriage.

But when Regulus looked in the direction of Flugel's tree....He was actually surprised for once.

He was looking at Flugel's tree...But it was cut down and under it was a giant White Whale which wasn't moving an inch, probably dead.

Regulus walked over towards where Subaru and Crusch were conversing with eachother, the first one to notice him was Subaru.

Subaru beamed an energetic smile as he waved at Regulus.

Subaru: Hey Regulus! Over here!

Crusch turned her head curiously for a second before realizing who the man was.

She quickly grew a frown which went unnoticed by Regulus.

Regulus made his way over to the two before introducing himself.

Regulus: I suppose that I haven't met you before, but I suppose that I should start with introducing myself since it's simply common courtesy to introduce yourself, is it not? My name is Regulus Corneas. Now could you introduce yourself, since it's simply common courtesy?

For a moment Crusch looked a bit confused at Regulus, first of all he was at the Royal Election so he saw her introduce herself, right? Also, she's Crusch Karsten! How is there anyone in this country that doesn't know about her?

But she figured that she should introduce herself anyways.

Crusch: I am the matriarch of the house of Karsten, I'm also one of the Royal Canditates for the Royal Election. My name is Crusch Karsten.

Regulus: That's a beatiful name, it's a pleasure to meet someone like you.

Regulus extended his hand for Crusch to shake and she took it.

Subaru was honestly weirded out by how polite Regulus was being, but that didn't matter for now. As Subaru's head was filled with this....

Subaru: (FUCK YES!! HOLY SHIT REM WILL BE SAVED FROM THAT PIECE OF SHIT GLUTTONY, GOD WHERE EVER YOU ARE FUCK YOU AND THANK YOU FOR SENDING ME BACK IN TIME WITH REGULUS!!)

On the outside Subaru simply looked happy like a puppy.

Crusch: Although I am interested in why you're here, the battle against the White Whale has already ended with our victory.

Regulus: Oh, please don't misunderstand but that idiot over there begged me to come here and escort you. Honestly, I didn't believe at first that this "White Whale" would even show up, but I have been surprised for once. Still, he should feel grateful that I came here based on minimal evidence that he showed to me, he honestly doesn't understand how considerate I am to him sometimes.

Crusch wanted to say something back, to call him out for insulting Subaru despite the fact that he was a key part of defeating the White Whale.

But before she could Subaru interupted her.

Subaru: Well! I hope you'll have a safe journey back home Crusch-san. I'll be going to defeat Sloth now.

Crusch's smile returned as she nodded at Subaru's words and went towards the carriages that would transport them  back to the Capital, along with the remains of the White Whale.

Subaru: You know, for some reason I had a bad feeling that you wouldn't show up. But I'm glad you did.

Regulus: Please, you make it sound like I wouldn't have shown up despite telling you I would. I may have doubted your claims on the appearance of this worthless Mabeast, but I'm not a liar.

Subaru: (Doubt...)

Regulus: Honestly, I feel insulted that you would even consider the idea of me lying to you, don't you think that's simply rude to accuse me of such a horrible thing? To accuse me of such a thing would be a violation of my right of free speech, would it not be?

Subaru had to stop his complaints at Regulus's rants as he wanted to make sure that there would be no chance of Regulus simply ditching his job before Gluttony attacks.

Still, Subaru feels honestly relieved for once in a long while.

Rem wasn't pleased with the fact that she couldn't come with Subaru to fight Sloth, but Felix told her that she's too exhausted to fight and what's the point with arguing with the best healer in Lugunica?

So now she sat in a carriage along with Crusch and....Regulus...

She was honestly surprised with Regulus's appearance, but she wasn't pleased with him being here.

He was apparantly here to escort them, but she would much rather have him out there with Subaru to fight Sloth.

But she trusts in Subaru's judgement, so she'll tolerate Regulus being here.

Although what Subaru didn't know is that something changed, which he couldn't possibly have predicted.

Despite the carriage being attacked by Gluttony originally....

No one was coming to attack the carriage....
