Journey of a Heroine

Ribbit Rescue Part 1

"Don't worry Mylene, you'll be fine!" Rose calmed, patting her on the shoulder

"Well, what're we waiting for? Let's see where we're going!" Alix exclaimed

"I got Jardin des Plantes!" Alya cheered

"I'm headed to the beach by the Seine!" Rose announced very happily

"Looks like I'm off to the Rambouillet Forest...by myself," Mylene said with a bit of a shaky voice

"*inaudible murmuring*"

A/N: I don't think you need me to tell you who that was

"Alright! I got Parc Monceau!" Alix said with a clenched fist in victory

"And I got...THE SWAMP?!" Marinette cried out. "WHAT AM I GONNA BE SAVING THERE?"

"A lot of amphibians live in the swamp." Mylene shrugged

Marinette heaved a deep sigh

"Don't let this ruin your mood, gurl! Think about all the critters we're gonna save today!" Alya said in an attempt to lift her spirits

"Yeah... you're right I just gotta... remember the cause!"

"That's my girl!"

"Well we better get a move on," Alix reminded her friends as she tightened the straps on her rollerblades 

"See you later girls! Good luck!" Rose yelled after running off

Marinette set off on her way to the swamp. Sure, it wasn't the most glamorous of locations, but she was determined to give herself a good day and a little swamp wasn't about to stand in the way of that.

Once she arrived, there was a cluster of teens that stood in front of her. She recognized a few that had been to the bakery once or twice with it being the most popular in the city and all. 

She was scanning the faces when she paused on one that caught her eye. 

Marinette could tell she would have to stand on her tiptoes to be at eye level with him even from afar. His hair was dark, similar to hers, but it wasn't midnight blue or black. It was an espresso brown that crowned his figure magnificently as it fell so naturally on his face. His grey eyes weren't at all empty, oh no, they were full of a unique flame Marinette wasn't sure she had ever seen before.

A warm hand on her shoulder snapped her out of the spell this stranger had her under.

"It's good to see you, Marinette! I was worried I would be stuck cleaning up this swamp without any friends around!" Adrien chuckled

"Oh, h-hey Adrien! Yeah, it's good to see you too! I was a little nervous after I found out I would be spending a whole day at the swamp hehe."  Marinette stammered, "I-I didn't know if you'd be joining, you're always so busy."

"Yeah, well my father thinks it's good publicity and I'm glad he sent me out here. I do wanna help," he explained

"In that case... let's get cleaning!"

The two 'friends' headed into the swamp and got started with what they came to do

There were bottles and wrappers and even busted electronics; who would've guessed the swamp would be littered this badly

"Wow, there's a lot of trash in here," Adrien commented

"Yeah, I'm gonna need a new bag, I'll be right back." Marinette sighed
