Chapter 1 - He really is a monster

Start from the beginning

"Terasaka, Yoshida, Muramatsu," he growled to the three students who looked like they were about to cower in fear. "You three are behind all of these, no?" He confirmed.

All of us quivered at the aura he was giving off. I had goosebumps myself. From the tone he used, we could all tell that he was furious. I took a look at his face and gulped audibly.

I kind of regretted doing that. His face was pitch-black. He was angry, but it was of a much higher level. He was furious. He even looked more like a monster than an alien-octopus. The aura radiating off him was terrifying itself.

Completely scared, the three of them denied that it was their idea and blamed it all on Nagisa, who they mentioned had planned it all. Cowards.

And in a flash, the now furious teacher disappeared. As I was just about to relax for a moment, he returned in less than a second, dropping three items onto the floor. The nameplates off their houses, to be exact.

"My agreement with your government states that I cannot harm you, but if you try an assassination like that one more time..." he started. I looked up at him with wide eyes, and noticed the nameplates off all of our houses in his hold. "I won't guarantee that the ones whom you are close with will be safe. Or I could just wipe out the whole planet from your eyes," he finished, dropping all of the nameplates on the wooden floor.

I could only sit there on the floor, frozen. We all knew that we couldn't run to the far ends of the Earth. He would just hunt us down. If we really want to get away from him, all we could do was to kill him.

"W-What the hell is your problem?!" A voice shouted and I turned to see Terasaka pointing a trembling finger at the octopus. "Just coming in here being all 'I'm gonna blow up the Earth', and 'Assassinate me'! What's so wrong with using an annoying method to assassinate an annoying guy? Weren't you the one who asked for it in the first place?!"

I expected our target's reaction to be much worse, but to my surprise, his face turned normal, and he didn't have that deathly aura around him anymore. Instead, his face was red with a dark red circle on it. He mentioned on how Terasaka's idea was a good, one, just that he was mad that he and the other two didn't think about Nagisa's safety and just went ahead with the plan.

He then patted Nagisa on the head. "Especially you, Nagisa-kun. Your natural approach gets you full marks. You made it through the weak point of my defenses at that time" he praised. I was confused for a moment when he mentioned the 'full marks', but then I realized that he was probably referring to our poem assignment.

"And you three!" He turned to the masterminds of this plan, and the three sounded like they squealed.

"None of you looked out for Nagisa-kun, not even Nagisa-kun himself. Students like that are not fit to assassinate anyone," he commented, this time his face turning purple with a huge dark purple X in the middle, indicating that he disapproved of that statement. We need an assassination which would make people proud, and not one which would risk innocent people's lives. You're all able to do it, since you have that potential in you," he lectured.

"Somehow like what Suzuki-san said earlier, even those BB bullets can kill someone if you're not careful with them. The innocent person who may have been killed is an important person to someone else. Like how Nagisa is important to Suzuki-san ever since they met in their first year in this school," he continued.

I stared at him in awe. Despite being our assassination target, he really does care about us...

"Wait what? How did you know about how Nagisa and I met?!" I demanded, finally realizing what he had really said.

"I have my ways," he snickered. He then moved closer to me and put one of his tentacles on my right shoulder. "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about your past," he mumbled.

My red eyes widened for the umpteenth time. So there was someone else other than Nagisa and my foster family who knows... I guess the information about my past isn't that secure enough. In an instant, my heart almost broke. I looked down, hiding my eyes behind my fringe.

"I'm counting on you, sensei."

I gathered up the courage to look up after convincing myself that I shouldn't cry in this class. I stood up and smiled at him, grateful that he respects my privacy. The five of us returned to our seats, finally glad that the whole issue was resolved.

The teacher then suddenly asked, "I have a question for Nagisa-kun. I don't have the slightest intention of being killed. I will enjoy my time here until next March, then blow up the Earth. If you don't like it, what are you going to do about it?"

Within seconds, Nagisa had already gotten his answer. "Before you destroy Earth... I'll kill you," he replied confidently, which had gotten the octopus's approval.

I grinned. We also don't have the slightest intention of giving up in assassinating him.

But come to think of it... I've always been calling him '(yellow) octopus', 'creature', and that sort. I thought back about Kayano's question about his name...

"How about 'Korosensei'?" I heard someone ask, which caused that yellow octopus to turn.

Everyone looked at the owner of the voice, who was Kayano. "Well, 'korosenai' as in 'unkillable', and combined with 'sensei', becomes Korosensei...?" She awkwardly explained.

And that was how he got our new nickname for him; Korosensei.

"Never mind that, you can all go home once you are done with your poem and when you manage to kill me!" Korosensei announced.

"What?!"
