Chapter 1 - He really is a monster

Start from the beginning

When I was just halfway there, that creature headed to the window and slid it open. "I'll just be heading over to China for some mapo tofu. Any aspiring assassins are welcome to call me on my cell and warn me," he snickered.

Everyone stared at the window, silence enveloping the room. "Um... If he's travelling at Mach 20..." Nakamura muttered, breaking the silence.

"...it'll probably take about 15 minutes to get to Sichuan," Nagisa finished.

A drop of sweat railed down my face to my neck. "That's too fast for a missile to hit its target," I commented.

"Heck, that octopus even grades our tests while moving at the speed of sound!" A student exclaimed, gaining all of our attention.

My eyes widened. "Well, it does make sense. We got our papers the same day we took one of our class tests, and mine came back with a drawing on it," I explained, smiling awkwardly. "Though he is great at teaching. I finally get how to solve simultaneous equations-"

"What? But isn't that elementary math?!" Nakamura interrupted.

I sheepishly laughed. "Y-Yeah, that's how bad my math is."

Then I looked down as a thought popped into my brain. We are the E class anyway. Even if we're smart, we would just be kicked here if our attitudes aren't satisfactory. I kind of regret enrolling into this school in the first place. But then again, I would be involved in this whole assassination thing if I didn't, which makes things much more fun and interesting, and it also makes us students in the E class more unique than the ones studying in the main campus or even from other schools.

As I was taking a huge bite of my simple chicken and ham sandwich, a trio made their way to where Nagisa, Kayano and I sat, and I immediately recognized them as Terasaka Ryoma, Yoshida Taisei, and Muramatsu Takuya.

"Yo, Nagisa," Terasaka called out and jabbed his thumb to the direction behind him as his friends had smirks on thier faces. "Come with us for a minute. It's time to put our assassination plan into action," he urged, to which Nagisa agreed to and left shortly after. Kayano and I looked at each other, confused, as Nagisa usually didn't talk to those two and they suddenly have an assassination plan. Whatever it is, I just hope it wouldn't put anyone in danger. I've always seen the three of them as the troublemakers of the class. It's either they look like it or they act like it, but I'm going for the latter.

After lunch break, it was modern literature next, where we had to write a poem as our assignment. I hated modern literature. I hated writing. Most likely because my vocabulary isn't up to standard...yet, I guess. "Well then," the yellow octopus sighed. "compose a short poem related to our theme," he instructed. I sighed. Another day of writing poems. I didn't have the slightest idea of becoming a writer or a poet, so I didn't really see the need for me to do this, which was usually why I keep failing this subject.

"The final line should be 'was tentacles all along'," he added.
