"How would you describe yourself?"

maki harukawa has always been a reserved and rational person her whole life and that mindset carried onto her career as an actress. no matter how much she said she despised it and that it stresses her, maki at the same time cherished her job as one. especially with her current series; danganronpa v3: killing harmony. she was told that her appearance and personality perfectly matched the character description they wrote out. at first thought she assumed it would be another role she had to play, probably being one of those roles she would sweep under the carpet. but as she walked into the doors to meet her co-stars she had to work with, maki immediately knew from that day on this wouldn't that this wouldn't be a normal experience she would play. though the concept of the show is a bit confusing and a bit overwhelming with the constant despair thrown around most of their lines (especially tsumugi's), she just couldn't help but show interest in the plot and storyline of the show.

she'd like to argue that at first glance, most of them had a lot of character and depth in their personalities. kaito momota being one of that was just plastered over him. he was bold and confident in both his voice and nature. and had no problems with rushing forth and taking charge in any occasion (even if it fails miserably). when in interviews, she'd be asked to describe him and she'd say "it was like a sunshiny aura that always followed him around wherever he'd go, and it is always followed by a child-like smile, in a sense". he was an incredible man with a good heart, but maki would never admit it to kaitos face.

later on into production she'd not only hang out with him, but not too soon she'd hang out with kaede and shuichi as well. usually they'd all go out for drinks (mostly tea or coffee), or just a simple stop at each others homes for a chat. chapter by chapter her relationship with everyone grew and grew (even if their character had died), harukawa still tried her best to keep in touch with them. but the once kaede and shuichi announced their relationship together maki started to hang out with just kaito during their breaks. she always grew a little flustered in interviews when the host would ask if her and kaito were in a romantic relationship, but she always brushed it off as a close bond of friends as co-stars. sure her face would be a little flushed when the interviewer would ask this question, a memory she refused to tell anyone especially kaito.

but she knew she was in deep trouble once the script and her lines for the fifth class trial came, maki found it difficult to give over her lines. portraying such emotion in a character isn't a huge problem for her to handle in her years of an actress, the problem was it flat out said that she fell for kaito in her script. which isn't that big of a deal if she hadn't fallen in love with him herself. though he has his strange gut feeling in believing in every person he comes across, she couldn't help but admire his compassionate and considerate personality that he brought to many people. at first she brushed it off as a small crush that would soon go away, as she described it like it as an addictive drug consuming every fiber of her being, eating her whole. but the closer the rehearsal was coming up she started to panic.

that night maki knew that continuing her lines over and over in her mind was just going to keep her awake and becoming more annoyed and frustrated than usual, so she decided to have a late-night rehearsal of her lines at a 24hr cafe she would usually go for her breaks. shoving the papers into the bag that hung over her shoulder as she headed out the door. though it was a very public and local cafe that people would go to, not many customers were dining in at the late ours of the night. once she sat at her barstool, maki immediately rehearsing the words on plastered on her script, though her voice was just a groggily mumble and her posture was hovering over the cafes counter.

around the time of 1am she'd been avoiding her confession sequence since the time she arrived. although she knew besides that part word for word, but refused to even acknowledge the paragraph of deep emotions. maki was drifting off to sleep slowly, until she heard a soft voice beside her on barstool, "harumaki, there you are! i was pretty worried about where you were" they seemed to speak in more of a blasting voice. maki slowly raised her head up from the surface of her arms, meeting eyes with the man that she complicated feelings for all that night. she could barely answer to his questions, her heart beating faster than her words and hearing him could catch up to maki. "come on harumaki i'll walk you home, before the press comes and floods this place" kaito insisted holding his hand out with a his signature smile, awaiting for her to grab it.

she was hesitant to say the least, but grabbed his extended hand, pulling her out of the stool she sat in. the streets was quiet but not too long bringing down early morning rain, followed by the strange silent falling between the two of them. though she was trying her best not to, maki couldn't help but putting her full focus on the city, avoiding any kind conversation with kaito.

"momota, how did you know where i was at?—" the small mumble of her voice trailing to catch up with her thoughts "—i didn't tell anyone that I went out", makis hand running through her dark brown bangs and her expression in a small pout. kaito let out a awkward chuckle "well i thought it was pretty insane coming from you to not answer any of our calls especially mines" she rolled her eyes, knowing that the last part was horribly trying to tease her. she smirked "well y'know insanity basically runs in my family, it practically gallops to say the least", kaito humorously laughing and almost snorting at her letting loose and joking around with him. he ruffled her bangs, snapping her back to her monotone exterior.

"right, about your question earlier I was at the cafe cause," maki pulling out the script from her bag "of this stupid thing, it's been bugging me all week. I don't know if it's just a bit of stage fright, but it's been eating up all of my sleep", he went silent for a moment "hey harumaki how about we look over your script one more time, so you're not scrambling around early in the morning to try to rehearse it", she turned around as kaito was patting a seat next to her on a bench, signaling her to sit down. maki took a small deep breath, walking up to kaito beside him on the bench.

"alright harumaki, how far did you get in this?" he asked, turning his head towards her direction. but her heard no sound, as she was sound asleep on his shoulder. kaito softly chuckled as he tucked away the script into her bag on the bench, trying not to make the slightest sound to wake the crimson—eyed girl up.

he took another glance at her with awe in his eyes. around maki he felt this passionate feeling around her. and those striking eyes of hers, he could stare into them for hours each day. "what am i gonna do with you?" He chuckled, her head slumping more in his shoulder. sometimes kaito wished he could hold her hand and tell her all the things he loved about her. maybe one day that wish could come true... for the both of them.
