"Well, that's too bad (Y/n). You're staying right here where I can keep an eye on you and that's final."

"Scoops Troop this is... hm. Bald Eagle. I've reached another junction." Murray said over the radio.
"This is what?" Dustin asked.
"The third?" You replied.
"No. The fourth junction." Erica corrected.
"All right, so if my memory serves, this is right after the My Little Pony Thesis."
"We went left, so he has to go-" Erica began.
"Right." All three of you chimed at the same time.
"Fly right, Bald Eagle. Fly right." Dustin said over the radio.
"Roger that, flying right," Murray replied. The sound of the other walkie-talkie going static met your ears.
"What's the My Little Pony thesis?" Robin asked. You rolled your eyes.
"Oh, God." You said.
"Don't get him started," Erica replied.
"Get him started? Just tell me-"
"Hey, guys?" Steve called. You looked towards him before standing up, the others following right after. You walked towards him, eyebrows furrowed. When you arrive at his side you see the reason he had called you over. The lights at Starcourt mall were flickering on and off, a surefire sign that something was wrong. The five of you ran back to the radio. Dustin picked up the walkie part,
"Griswold Family, this is Scoops Troop! Do you copy? Over! Griswald Family, I repeat, this is Scoops Troop. Do you-" Dustin is cut off by the loud screeching of the Mind Flayer.
"Griswold Family, do you copy? Do you copy!?" Dustin yelled. Once again, all he was met with was the roar of the monster.
"Griswold Family, this is Scoops Troop. Please confirm your safety! Griswold Family, this is Scoops Troop! Please confirm your safety! Are you en route to Bald Eagle's nest? Please confirm your safety! Someone, please just answer. Is anyone there? Just answer! Anyone, please..." Dustin shouted. You laid a hand on his shoulder.
"Dusty... They're not gonna answer." You whispered. He sighed.
"See, aren't you glad I made you stay with us?" Steve asked. You glared at him.
"Do you really think it's the appropriate time for those comments dipshit?" You replied. Dustin picked up the walkie and continued shouting into it, despite your attempts to reason with him.
"Griswold Family, do you copy? Griswold Family, do you copy? Griswold Family, do you copy? Do you copy?!" Dustin shouted continuously. You watched as Steve stood up, jogging away from where you were.
"Where are you going?!" Erica asked.
"To get them the hell outta there! Stay here, contact the others!" He yelled. You stood and ran after him, ignoring when the others called your name.
"No way I'm staying. I'm coming with you," You said. Steve glared at you.
"(Y/n) seriously-"
"Can it asshole, it isn't an argument. I am coming." You replied with a glare. He rolled his eyes and stopped persisting, knowing there was no changing your mind. You see Robin tailing after you before you get in the car.

"Dusty-bun, you copy?" An unfamiliar voice asked.
"I copy, Suzie-poo. It sounds much better now, thanks." Dustin replied. This must have been the Suzie Dustin kept gushing about, and it appeared that Robin and Steve came to the same conclusion as you.
"Okay, so, listen, do you know Planck's constant?" Dustin asked.
"Do you know the Earth orbits the Sun?" Suzie asked. Dustin snickered.
"Okay, so I know it starts with two sixes, and then a... W-what is it?" He asked.
"Okay, let me just be clear on this. I haven't heard from you in a week, and now you want a mathematical equation that you should know so you can... save the world?" Suzie asked.
"Suzie-poo, I promise, I will make it up to you as soon as possible," Dustin replied.
"You can make it up to me now," Suzie suggested.
"What?" Dustin inquired.
"I want to hear it," Suzie said, her voice now sounding ominous.
"Not right now."
"Yes, now, Dusty-bun."
"Suzie-poo, this is urgent."
"Yes, yes, you're saving the world, I heard you the first time, but Ged is also saving Earthsea and he's about to confront the shadow, so this is Suzie, signing off."
"Wait, wait, wait! Okay. Okay. Okay." Dustin yelled. There was a long pause before you heard the static again.
"Turn around..." He began singing. You raised your eyebrows and looked at Steve who looked as confused as you were.
"Look at what you see... In her face... The mirror of your dreams." Dustin continued. Soon, Suzie joined in.
"Make-believe I'm everywhere... Given in the light... Written on the pages is the answer to a never-ending story. Ahhhhhh. Reach the stars... Fly a fantasy... Dream a dream... And what you see will be." They harmonized. Steve looked from the walkie-talkie to you, his mouth moving but nothing coming out. He was shocked.
"You have got to be fucking kidding me." You said, putting your head in your hand frustrated.

You could hear the loud screeching of the Mind Flayer from over the walkie-talkie that had never switched off.
"No!" You heard Billy scream. You bit your fingernails as all you could do was listen to the commotion that was happening on the other end. You could hear both him and the monster screaming in agony. There were several sounds of sloshing and more of Billy's screams. Your eyes began to water. No matter how much of a douche bag he was, it still caused you pain to hear everything
"Close it now! Close it!" Dustin screamed over the radio. You heard the roar of the Mind Flayer, then the final scream of Billy Hargrove.
"Billy!" You heard Max scream. You set the walkie down and turned away, covering your ears, unable to listen to any more of it.

You sighed as you moved the gravel on the ground with your foot. You watched as the others were getting their wounds cleaned and things of that matter. You heard a groan from beside you, causing you to look up and watch your older brother sit down. You gave a small smile.
"Hey, dork." He said. You looked at your shoes.
"Hey, Steve." You replied. He frowned.
"I know this was probably super traumatic or whatever but I'm happy we got out of it okay." He replied. You laughed.
"Definitely or whatever." You said. He laughed.
"Um... Thank you, by the way." You whispered before nudging his shoulder. He gave you a quizzical look.
"For?" He asked.
"For keeping your dorky little sibling safe." You replied. He smiled and wrapped an arm around you and placing his chin on top of your head.
"Of course. The world would be mad boring without my dorky little sibling."
