"My child you have so much potential, but you seem to waste it."

I look over into the forest and I see him, the man, once again. The wind blows and snowflakes from the ground blow and become entangled into my hair. The cold starts piercing my skin and I start to shiver. The birds above me in the trees start screeching loudly and I cover my ears and fall onto my knees into the depths of the snow. "Why are you doing this to me!?" I scream over the birds cry and I feel the air grow colder around me. I look down towards the ground and I see blood splattered all over the snow. I gasp and cover my mouth and I look up and he is closer towards me staring at me with his eyes that are so black. "Why are you following me? What do you want?" I have never seen this man in my entire life, but he persists that he knows me, and he wants me dead. He charges towards me with his scythe and start swinging towards me.

I evade him by diving into the snow, and I fall face first. I push myself up, brush some of the snow off my face, and run through the forest. Pushing the branches past me and all I keep hearing is crows cawing. I trip over a log and fall into the snow. I put my hand over my face, and the top of my forehead is bleeding, one of the branches must have cut me. I am not understanding what this man wants from me. Why is he trying to kill me? He yells at me from a distance. What does he want? I stand back up and look back towards the direction he was in, he is not there. I turn around and he stands in front of me again this time the scythe is bloody. I try running the other direction, but I slam my body into a tree. "What!? This tree wasn't even here before-" I start coughing due to the wind being knocked out of me. I look down towards the ground and I see a woman lying dead a foot away from me. I stare in pure shock and feel darkness closing in on me. Who the hell is this woman? Where did she come from? Did he kill her? I hear his voice echo behind me, and I look back and see him once again. His eyes are still consistently peering black.  His aura continues to grow larger and darker. He raises his scythe once more and swings towards me "No!-" I feel it pierce through my leg and all I can do is scream.

My body shakes and I wake up in the darkness of my room. I look up towards my ceiling and I am unable to process what type of dream I just had. I look over at the clock on my nightstand, it's 5:30 am. I rest my hand over my chest slowly trying to catch my breath and calm down. My nightmares are kicking my ass again for the third time this week no matter what I do. I turnover onto my side peering out the window and look beyond the horizon of the forest. Looking out the window I see the black crows that are constantly outside my window during the early hours of dawn. I keep having those type of dreams. The trees, the voices, the man, and the sounds. I give up trying to laydown and I shrug myself out of bed, heading downstairs towards the kitchen.

I embrace the darkness of the kitchen and I turn my lamp on the counter to keep the room semi dark. As I rest my arms on the counter, I see a small ball of white fur walking around with a little white tail swishing through the air. I cannot help but laugh a bit.

"Hello, what are you doing up so early?"

Her little green eyes look up to mine and she meows. Whenever I am up early because of my nightmares, she is usually up with me. I hear the crows cawing once again outside of my house. I look out the kitchen window and see them bonding together in one of the trees. My cat jumps on the counter and stands beside me and meows. "What is it?" I look confused towards her, but she brushes herself against my arm to let me pet her.  I embrace her warm fur and I rub behind her ears, and I smile a little. "I'm sorry you have to keep putting up with me and my nightmares." She meows towards my comment. She then decides to jump off the counter and heads toward the front door of my house. I look at the door, and my cat starts meowing once more while looking at me.  "Do you want to go outside just so you go can chase the birds?" I say sarcastically and she meows in agreement. I open the door and let her walk outside onto the front porch and she lays down on the middle of it. I close the door behind me and sit in one of the chairs on the porch.  I look straight ahead noticing the sun is coming up.

I reflect over the nightmare that I had, and I keep replaying it in my head over and over. What is it supposed to mean? The crows caw once again in the trees, and it reminds me of the birds screeching in the forest. Why does he hate me so much? He seems to be existing in a different timeline. His clothes were very different, his skin was pale, and his eyes, those eyes are black. They kept piercing through my skin that was becoming thinner due to the cold brushing against it. My mother says that dreams sometimes have significance. But someone trying to consistently murder me is significant? How? I try to digress on what that is even suppose to mean. I give up trying to create a logic towards my mother's argument, and I come back to me being outside. I have been consistently thinking about my family these past few days, especially after the tragedy. Looking back into the sky, I see the crows flying out of the trees and glide towards the clouds. What is the actual purpose of family again?
