Early morning, the sky still dime as the first glimmers of sunlight started to peek over the city sky-scrapers. The sounds of the concrete jungle murmured throw the wind as a single figure stood outside their apartment. He stands alone, his balcony overlooking the city below as the remaining chill of the night air fills his lungs while the bright embers of the morning warm him.

He always enjoyed the night. Its calm silence made the world seem like it stood still, the remnant of who he was yesterday not yet blown away with the morning, "Why do I have to change?" He thought, "People liked me before; why can't I just stay like that?" He said, gazing off in the distance as if waiting for an answer that would never come... or at less, not from out there?

"You can't just avoid it, you know?" He hears as he turns, facing the screen door in front of him as he watches someone sitting in his living room. Their face was like his, but their body dressed in white, hands under their chin as if pondering with their brow raised as he looked back, arms crossed and pouting.

"Shut up!"

"Hey, I'm just telling you the truth?" They said, being honest with him as he looks away and sighs, "Look, I'm not saying you have to be someone else? But you can't just stay as you are forever." They said as he motions down at the table in front of him. Piles of sheets placed there weeks ago; his thoughts remembering a friend helped pick them out with him.

It was things he thought of doing; wall other seemed fun to try, but after thinking on them and waiting so long to choose, "I don't know what to pick!" He said, staring back through the screen, his head pressed done on it, "I... I don't know?" He said. Sighing, the figure in white said nothing; soon enough, he opens the door and walks inside, the two sitting facing one another.

"I... I don't know? What if I make a mistake, what if I choose wrong, what if-" As he feels his anxiety take over, he felt a hand placed on his shoulder as he looks up and sees the figure smile back at him, "Hugh... you really need to ease up on yourself man, after all, it's your life... right?" His words like a switch in the back of his mind.

"M... My life?"

"Duh...! What you think it's someone else?" The figure says humorously "You're just getting started, buddy, take your time, see where the road goes... as for the map and compass? I say let the needle spin. "He smiled, winking back at him as he chucks at his wording.

"Ha... that's a good way to end up lost?" "True... but better not knowing than be disappointed by your expectations?" Saying to let whatever happen, happen and just enjoy the ride, "Besides? Even if you're not sure where you'll end up? You've got tons of people backing you."

Reminding him, both friends and family were right behind him. Soon, the morning sun started peering in through the screen door filling the room with light as the night finely draws to a close, "Guess that my cue; take it easy, alright." Said the figure as they stand, offering their hand out to me, "Yeah, thanks... for everything." He said, taking his hand as the two shakes.

Soon the door opens as the morning sunbeams out from behind him; he stood outside his apartment, taking a deep breath, standing tall as he smiles, "Okay... let's get started." Stepping out to a world filled with endless possibilities.
