My phone alarm rings too many times before I finally get the energy to stop it as I roll out of bed and see the sun barely peeking through my curtains across the room.

I've told myself I have to start getting back into running so I wake up right when the sun starts rising. I've also told myself that I should start my mornings after I run and that normally doesn't happen.

But I got myself out of bed this morning and pulled on workout clothes for a mile run. This morning felt different, I'm not sure why because it was a Tuesday morning, but something felt different but...good.

Adriana

My hole-in-the-wall apartment with my extremely active upstairs neighbors was temporary and I just had to remind myself that. Only 2 more months and I was out of this place and moving to a much better part of the city.

I had an interview for the magazine I work for even though I'm not a writer, I'm strictly an editor but apparently, my piece of shit boss has one out for me because I have to interview this big hot shot of a businessman because we're short-staffed in the whole writer department.

After being woken up this morning by some sort of moaning from my lovely neighbors above, I pulled on a nicer outfit than usual and made my way to the bathroom to find a good hairstyle to match my dress pants and blouse, all black due to my severe lack of color in my closet.

It wasn't that I didn't like other colors, well maybe, but it was more of an 'I don't feel confident in this color or pattern' sort of thing. I put more color in my shoes but I wasn't great at making outfits that didn't express the darkest color on the spectrum.

I decided that I wanted to vacate the premises of my apartment as the neighbors must have seen their parents this morning. I grabbed my laptop, purse, keys, and shoes and I leave locking the door and make my way to my car parked in the back lot.

The drive to work is interesting seeing someone half-naked and another person snorting something. I scan my ID and park in the parking garage to make my way up to the office to get my agenda before I go to meet the hotshot of the day.

"Adriana!" Mark says overselling that he's 'excited to see me.

"Hi Mark," I say half-heartedly, making my way to my desk. He follows me and sits on my desk almost knocking off the picture of my nephew and I. Luckily, I catch it and back up my chair just so I don't have to directly smell Mark's stale coffee breath.

"So how's my favorite editor this morning?" He asks.

"Mark, I'm your only editor, you don't have a choice," I say flatly.

"Why so grumpy? Did someone wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" He asked.

"My neighbors woke me up screaming 'daddy' so I think I have the right to be a little grumpy," I retort, not really caring how my tone comes off this morning.

"Rough, well anyways, the total hot businessman you're supposed to interview just moved the interview back an hour so you've got some free time however, I highly suggest you leave now with your agenda just in case he changes his mind and wants to go back to the earlier time," he states, handing me my agenda.

"Ok, I'm fine with that," I say grabbing my stuff and readjusting the picture frame as Mark gets his dumbass off my desk.

"If he needs to take your whole day, let him, I've specifically cleared the minor things off your schedule so that you can give him your full attention," he said with a crooked smile.

"So you made Kara do half of my work and have her assign the rest?" I asked.

"Maybe," he said.
