Chapter 1

Ring ding ding ding ring ding ding ding

"Ah.." getting up Han Lulu rubs her face, pushing her hair back. She kicks her legs over her bed reaching over to stop the alarm going off.

"Oh it's Monday!" Lulu quickly untangles herself from her sheets and rushes to her bathroom, she looks in the mirror and sees a pale white face, messy bed hair and lightly pink chapped lips.

She slips her lace night gown off letting it drop to the floor, after that she steps into the shower turning it all the way over to the hot side. She was always taught it was good to scrub your skin raw, it makes your skin glow!

She takes her shampoo and squeeze it out on her loofah scrubbing her body, after 20 minutes of scrubbing she stepped out wrapping a towel around her and entering her bedroom.

Gasp!

"Oh my..I-.." there sitting right on her bed was both of her parents. Lulu walked over to them. "Is there something wrong?" This was unusual for her parents to come into her room, they would have wait at breakfast to tell her anything, so it must be important if they couldn't wait.

"Well sweetie.." Mrs. Han Sheng, Han Lulu's mother's, fidgeted with her hands as she added "We are tight on budget with your acting and modeling career...how you always need to travel with accessories and clothes" Lulu nodded I think I know where this is going.

"Ma..I can quit one of them if it's such a burden to you and Pa. I don't want you to sacrifice too much for me." Lulu took her mother's shaking hand in hers, squeezing for reassurance. Lulu pursued acting classes in college along with her modeling job. Truthfully she had wanted to take singing too, but that would be out of the question now, maybe she can just sing for YouTube or her social media accounts.

"Lulu.." Han Sheng withdrew her hands away and rested them on Lulu's head. "We wanted to tell you that we signed you up for a um... competition" just as quickly as she placed her hand on Lulu's head she withdrew it. 

"What kind?"  She was good at many things, she liked to try various things in hope she will one day be rich with all her careers.  She wanted to be a good daughter for her parents and provide them anything they needed, a good life while they grow old.

"We will be recording your life, the company who will be watching all of the recording will choose a suitable girl to have a life there at that company. You will have greater opportunities and you can even get a heads start on whatever you want to do in the future!"

Lulu couldn't believe it, it was a amazing deal! But the only thing she worried about was recording her life, she was a bit shy... When she acts her shyness disappears completely like there was none in the first place. And she uses her acting skills to get over the watching eyes of the crowd when she's modeling.

"That's wonderful!" Lulu couldn't seem to say anything more, she was too deep in thought of how she can get over the fear of the cameras watching gaze all the time.

"We set up cameras all over the house and asked your professor's and boss to assist us with this, they wish you good luck and cheers you on!" Her mother looked excited but it was forced, there was something she wasn't telling.

"I will try my best!" Lulu made a fist with both of her hands and nodded in determination.

"They do ask for you to be yourself, no forceful personality or acts, that's why we hid the cameras, try not to think of it."

Lulu nodded, resting her hands by her sides. She was going to do this for her family, they wanted her to do it so she will try her best!

"We will leave you to it, come downstairs for breakfast when you're ready" they stood up and walked to the door closing it behind them. When Lulu could no longer hear their footsteps she walked to her closet and picked out a black dress that was tight enough to show her breasts but when reaching her hips it became loose and ended above the knees. Sparky glitter lines went through the dress.

She then changed and once she was done she headed to her bathroom to put on some makeup, she always did a natural look, foundation, eye liner and Red lipstick. She put a thin choker on her neck and then brushed her hair, deciding to leave it out.

She then put some earrings on, black wedged heels and headed downstairs for breakfast.

As I pulled a chair up and sat down the food was already there, waffles, and cinnamon creamy porridge. It was my favorite breakfast dish, simple but delicious. Han Sheng and Han Li kept glancing up at me while I was eating, I assumed they were checking on me after what happened in my bedroom.

I got up and took my dishes to the sink and started cleaning it up. "Ma I have classes today and I wanted to go meet Xiao before class" I finished up washing and hugged Ma. "Go have fun kiddo" Han Sheng voice was a little raspy as she patted my back and I rushed upstairs to grab my purse and phone then waved goodbye as I walked out the house.

My black heels made clacking noises while I was walking on the sidewalk, me and Xiao planned to go get drinks before class. Xiao was a beautiful girl, she dyed her brown hair with blue streaks and always wore dark colored clothes.

I reached Starbucks and went inside immediately spotting Xiao.

"Xiao! I'm so happy to see you I have allot to tell you" I rushed to her table and sat down, Xiao was occupied with reading something on her phone. When she heard me sit she looked up from it and smiled.

"Lulu, nice to see you. I have allot to tell you too" Xiao was acting a bit indifferent but I pushed it aside, she's probably busy.

"What is it? You go first!" Xiao set her phone aside and stared at me.

"I'm participating in the competition to live a life in the Jing Ming company"

"Oh!" I breathed out a gasp, was that the company Ma and Pa signed me up for? So does that mean..I'm competing against my best friend?

"Xiao.." I looked down at my hands that were in my lap. Xiao cleared her throat so I looked up at her.

"I know you're participating too, your parents told me this morning. So I would like to tell you that this won't break our friendship" Xiao put on a unconvincing smile, I smiled back. This is what Ma was probably hiding from me.

"Good to know" I nodded. "I've lost my appetite but I want to let you know that whoever wins, wins far and square and I'll be super duper happy that you made it!" I took her hands in mine whilst I said that. Some silly competition would never drag me away from my best friend!

"Yes, agreed." She removed her hands and stood up, grabbing her phone. "Let's go" she said.

I stood and walked side by side with her as we walked to college. Then we parted ways for our different classes, I had acting so I went to the theatre.

Xiao and I have been friends since high school, she and I have total opposite career paths while she wants to be a musician and I want to be a actress and model. In looks wise, I was more pretty, I had to be so I can continue striving in my modeling career, it's a competitive field.

I've always had a insecurity on my looks but I've learned to get over it throughout my life, modeling helps.

I entered the theatre.
