Chapter Six: Going back

"HELP!"

Odette ran after Hugo with a heel in her hand. The Emperor and the Ballerina ran around the room like little children and Odette threw the hell which only missed Hugo's head by an inch.

"YOU'RE CRAZY!"

"CRAZY?! I HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE! YOU KNOW WHO MIGHT FIND OUT ABUT CHARLOTTE!"

"I HEARD HE BECAME A BETTER FATHER WHEN HE BROUGHT HIS DAUGHTER TO THE EMERALD PALACE 4 YEARS AGO!"

"I DON'T CARE!"

"Mama?"

The two adults immediately stood still and acted normal but their hair were standing up and their outfits were a mess. Odette smiled sweetly at her daughter and the little boy next to her.

"Yes, mon cheri?"

"Why are you chasing Papa, tata?"

"Well, Cher. Your papa was being silly so I was simply teaching him not to act without thinking." She grit her teeth and glared at Hugo who sighed in exaggeration.

"What are you two doing here?" Hugo asked, fixing his outfit.

"Mama wants to talk to you about the next ball." Louise said.

"Ah yes. I'll be with her in just a moment. How about you two run along and eat some treats?"

"Okay! I want cheesecake!"

"And I want pudding!"

Once the two little kids left, Hugo turned to Odette and practically begged.

"Odette, mon amie, please consider the opportunity of two empires forming an alliance. I doubt he will look into Charlotte since he's too fixated on his first daughter."

Odette threw him a dirty look.

"I don't mean any offense but it will only be two months. You'll be back before you know it! Besides isn't this a good status boost up for your family as well? Charlotte never left France her whole life. It would be a good experience for her to see the world other than her own."

Odette fell silent. Her arms were shaking and Hugo frowned. He placed his arm around her back and said.

"Alright if you really can't go, I'll decline. I don't want you to do this because of our status's. You're my childhood best friend and I'm yours. That comes first." Hugo said gently.

Odette sighed.

"I suppose I do need to get out of France. This place has been suffocating me and it would be a nice change for Charlotte."

"YES! Ahem. I'll arrange the finest carriage, maids and guards for your to take."

"When do we leave?"

"In three days."

"Alright. You owe me big time, Hugo."

"Hehehe."

Odette had packed all the things necessary to take as well as Charlotte's. She told er daughter that they'd go on a vacation to visit another empire for Uncle Hugo. The little girl was delighted because it would be her very first time out of France. Odette instructed her warily that she has to wear her necklace at all times and to never take it off. The daughter nodded to it and so the journey started.

"Bye bye, Oncle! Bye bye, tata! Bye bye, Louise!"

"Bye bye!"

"Have a safe trip!"

"I'll miss you!"

"We'll see you in two months."

Charlotte waved and Odette sat her down in front of her. Giving her a little snack for her to eat.
