"I wish I had an answer to that (Y/n)." He replied.
"It hurt so bad when you left Connor. I felt so miserable without you. I regretted everything I did, thinking it was all my fault." You said. Connor looked down, feeling horrible guilt wash over him.
"But I'm not telling this to make you feel bad. I'm telling you so you know how much you mean to me. I have you back now, I'm not gonna lose that again. How can I be with you?" You said. Connor looked at you, the guilt replaced by surprise.
"What?" He asked in disbelief.
"I love you, Connor. I love you so much. I can't be without you. How can I be with you? I'll do anything." You said. Connor stood up before sighing.
"No." He said.
"What?" You asked.
"No. There's no way for us to be together. I'm dead. You're alive. You can't let me hold you back. I made my decision that night. You still have your whole life ahead of you (Y/n). You can't let me be the one thing that's stopping you from living." He replied. You sniffled.
"Connor please, I love you." You whispered. Connor grimaced as he too felt tears pricking his eyes.
"I love you too (Y/n), and that's why I have to do this. I'm sorry." He said quietly. You looked up at him, but he wasn't there anymore. You looked around the room, searching for him, but you knew what he did. You felt like you couldn't breathe. After feeling so lost, you finally found a place to go, but you had no idea how to get there. You stood up from his bed and ran out of his house, never anticipating any of this to happen, and never feeling more in the dark than you had now.

You looked in the mirror and at the bags under your eyes. It had been days since you saw Connor and you hadn't slept. You hadn't eaten either. You felt like crying and throwing up. You had no idea what to do with yourself. There had only been one solution you could think of, but you weren't sure if that was the right answer. But the longer you walked the earth, the more it seemed like the only one.
I wish I could say you pulled through. I wish I could say you continued walking the earth and overcame the thoughts that plagued your mind. But there was only one thing that seemed to comfort you, and that was the handful of pills sitting in the bottom of your stomach instead of the bottom of the bottle. One after the other, you swallowed and you swallowed some more.
And once there was no more, you laid down. You closed your eyes and pulled the blanket over your cold feet. This was the end and you didn't feel at peace like you thought you would. You were horrified. It was suddenly no longer a comforting thought that you would be in an eternal dream state. No longer breathing. You knew it was too late though, so there you lay, your thoughts slowly reducing to nothing. No longer jumping from peace to horror, simply because there was nowhere to jump.
You had felt suffocated. You felt like you were drowning in all the negative things in life, and in doing so you forgot to think about the positives. You took the only path you saw, but there were so many other ways you could have traveled. You couldn't have been blamed for your mind's focal point being the escape you desperately craved. But the escape you chose wasn't the only one. If only you had realized that before you closed your eyes.

You felt a soft blanket rubbing against your skin. You were laying in a bed that had a comfortable familiarity to it. And the scent. It was like pine and cheap cologne. Only one person had that scent. You opened your eyes and you were in a room. Not a hospital room like you expected to see if you ever woke up again, but Connor's room.
"You did it. I hoped you wouldn't, but you did." Someone said. It was Connor. You looked at him sitting at the foot of his bed and everything suddenly fell into place.
"I... I'm a ghost? Aren't I?" You whispered. Connor looked at you, his eyes red and his cheeks wet.
"God damn it (Y/n)! Didn't I tell you not to do this?" He yelled. You looked down.
"I didn't want this to happen... I just hated feeling empty. I couldn't see any other way out Connor. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." You muttered and began to cry. You heard Connor sigh before the bed moved. It dipped beside you as Connor sat there.
"I guess I don't exactly have room to criticize." He said quietly. You sniffled.
"Why am I here though? I don't exactly have anything meaningful here. Just a little bit of clothes, but why would my soul attach itself to that?" You asked. Connor sighed before handing you a bracelet. Not just any bracelet though, your bracelet. The friendship bracelet with Connor's name on it.
"You forgot to take it home when we were arguing." He said. You gave a small smile before slipping it on and leaning your head on his shoulder.
"Thank you, Connor. Please know that I meant what I said." You said.
"And what exactly was that?" He asked.
"I love you." You whispered and leaned your head on his shoulder.
"And I meant it when I said I love you too," Connor replied and grabbed your hand. If he were to spend his eternity with anyone, he was glad it was you.
