P.s, this all chapter is a flashback

A bowl of hot steaming chicken noodle soup was placed on a small table. Following it was a plate of dumplings, and another large plate of roasted duck.

A (h/c) middle aged woman smiled softly as she placed the food on the table.

"You're not supposed to be doing that alone." Another woman, carrying a baby and some smaller bowls said, walking up to her.

[M/n], the (h/c) lady, took the bowls from her, as the other lady kept talking.

"Where's that daughter of yours anyway? Doesn't she know that these are her duties. Why is she always……."

"[Y/n] is outside with her father and brother. Leave my daughter alone Meng, and besides, I don't mind doing this alone." [M/n] said shrugging.

The baby in Meng's arms squirmed and she dropped him, scoffing at [M/n]'s statement.

"If you continue treating her like this, there's no way she's going to grow up to become a proper lady."

The little baby tottled to the door and sat on the steps of the porch, clapping excitedly as he watched the people outside.

A (h/c) girl of about eleven grunted as she slid backwards on her feet. She growled, before raising her head to glare at her opponent.

A black haired boy, a few years older than her stood opposite her, a smug grin on his face, his eyes narrowing on her.

A plump middle aged man sat a few ways from them under a tree, watching them carefully.

"Ready." The man called out making the kids prep themselves. "Set, Fight."

The two kids charge at each other, and started exchanging punches, jabs and kicks, trying to overpower each other while also trying to dodge.

After a while, the boy tripped the girl making her fall on het backside.

"Cut!" The man ordered.

"Yes!" The boy shouted in triumph, jumping up.

"Ha little sis, I beat you again." He said smugly.

The girl glared at him from where she was on the ground.

"Did you see that father?" The boy, Shang, asked excitedly turning to the middle aged man.

The man, Li, laughed and got up front where he sat.

"Yes Shang, I saw that. You're getting stronger, that's good." Li said, walking closer and patting his son on the shoulder.

"That's not fair. He only won because he's a boy, and boys are stronger than girls." The girl, [Y/n], said standing up.

Li laughed. "That's not always true [Y/n]. There are some rare cases where girls are stronger than boys. Those girls are very special." He said to her, tapping her nose.

"Yeah but [Y/n] is not of those girls now, is she?" Shang said teasingly, making [Y/n] growl and jump on him, tackling him to the ground.

"Oh, be careful kids." Li said amused, as the two rolled on the ground, trying to pin each other down.

Finally, [Y/n] had the upper hand, as she held her brother's arms up above his head, her knees on both sides of his stomach.

"Hah! Pinned ya!" She said victoriously.
