Draco's POV

Was it my fault? Was it always my fault? Did I scare her away, make her feel less than herself? So many questions and I was no closer to the answers than I was to getting her back. I might have just lost her.

Forever? Maybe. I really, really love her, but she hates me right now. She never told me she was going, or maybe she did. I can't remember. All I remember is pain, pain, and more pain. I was punished by the Dark Lord over break. He was furious to know that Dumbledore was still alive.

***FLASHBACK***

"Draco," an eerie voice came from the shadows. "I am very disappointed in you," it continued to hiss.

"I-I'm so sor-," Draco started.

"NO!" came the yelling hiss from the shadow. "I should kill you now." The voice was alluring but sinister. No one would have believed that in his youth, Tom Riddle was a handsome young man. No one except for Dumbledore, the only man on Earth that the Dark Lord was afraid of.

He came walking out of the shadows toward Draco, a giant snake curled around his body. Draco stared in fear and wonder.

How did a snake as big as that, not break his fragile looking body?

The snake hissed into the ear of the Dark Lord, and he hissed back. Draco felt shivers running up and down his spine.

He turned his head toward Draco and brought out his wand. "I will give you one more chance, Draco," he said as he fingered his wand in his hand. "But," he said as he gripped his wand, "if you fail me one more time, I WILL kill you." And with that, he brought up his wand and there was a flash of red light.

Draco was in immense pain. His whole world blew up around him. If it had been in one area he could have handled it, like when his father used to do it, but this was nothing like he had ever felt before. His whole body was on fire. He tried to hold it together, keep from crying out in pain, but tears were falling from his face and he bit his lip so hard it began to bleed.

And the next thing he knew, everything went black.

***END FLASHBACK***

I snapped out of it. I had remembered waking up five hours later in the same dark room I had fainted in. It was morning when I woke up. I began to shudder uncontrollably.

The only good thing to come from the break was that Poppy had come in through my window and dropped off a package from Tammy. She had received my gift and she had sent me one too. Poppy had affectionately nipped my hand when I gave her a treat and sent her on her way. I haven't opened the package yet.

"Dude, how was your break?" Blaise said to me.

"It- it was okay," I said with an uninterested voice as I waved him off, choking down my emotions.

He nodded and went back to talking with his, I guess, girlfriend, Stefani.

I sighed and stood up from the seat and walked out of the compartment. Down the corridor I saw Pansy and Theo sucking face. I walked a little further down and I saw the Weasel and that Brown girl making out. Disgusting.

I walked a little bit more back to the way I came from. Tammy was sitting looking out the window. That kid that I had never seen before was lying down sleeping with his head in her lap and her hand was stroking his hair.

I walked away from it. I walked away from it all. I dropped what I thought was every last feeling and memory I had for her, but there was one that I couldn't quite get rid of, the feeling of her love enveloping me and making me feel safe. That I will never forget.
