Alex gazed at his ceiling. A soccer ball landed on his stomach, causing him to turn his gaze to his best friend and cousin, Zephan Vanel.
“I’m still shocked that this woman has you wrapped around her little finger,” Zephan stated as he caught the ball hurled back in his direction. “Famous playboy and number one hottest campus bachelor, Alex Vanel, is finally brought down to his knees by the cold beauty, Campus Ice Queen, Aine Maddox. Oh, this is classic.”
“Shut up,” Alex said with a glare. He laid on his back, resuming his staring of the interesting ceiling. “I don’t get why I’m so hooked on her either, okay? There’s just something about her that catches my interest.”
“What? Her stinginess?” Zephan offered with a snicker. He cleared his throat when Alex silently threatened to hurt him if another comment was made. “You’re only interested because she’s the first, and probably the only, girl who didn’t fall for that pretty-boy face of yours.”
Alex frowned. “Then what did she see?” he quietly asked. Every girl, both young and old, fell for his face first. Then, it would be the fact that he has money. Lots of it.
“The enemy of all women, the devil himself,” Zephan scoffed. He swiftly dodged the baseball that was clearly aimed for his face. His cousin could be so predictable sometimes.
