I have a 'condition' called Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) when I mention to someone " I have Autism" they instantly think I'm someone they can take advantage of or I'm really good at maths (side note I'm not good at maths) and this is because people think of the movie 'Rain Man' with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman and people think they can use me and also I don't get a say in many things and I'm left out a lot of them time from things my friends are doing when I can join in am not incapable of doing simple tasks. I don't depend on people only with things I actually need help with like reading (I have other things that i need a little support with but that's not the main thing) I just hate depending on people because I love being independent. I can cook my own dinners I mean it may pasta or a microwave meal but I can still cook. I don't need to be watched 24/7 and be stopped from doing a simple task for someone to do it for me. Bare in mind I don't ask for help as it is even when i really need it i just find ways to solve the problem myself. Let me introduce myself, Hi I'm Addison and this is life through my point of view that meaning my likes dislikes and how much support I need, want/ like. Not everyone with ASD is the same, I'm different but I'm unique in my own way and this is me and Life basically through my eyes.

Signs and Diagnosis:

When I was younger I started showing signs of Autism when I wouldn't/ didn't understand that when a character dies in a TV/Show or movie that the actor doesn't die in real life but at that point I was between the ages of 6 and 9 years old I also at that point thought that dead artist and actors where still alive because of music videos playing on TV and that was the signs my mum went off of and little things I would do and how I done things differently from others even thought there was a simpler way of doing it and how I hate some crowded places but yet I love  big crowded places like concerts and going to the theatre ( I love going to those places).

Also how music has had a calming effect on me since I was 4 years old (I was 4 in 2010 so put two and two together) and also how I'm always worried about being late and how simple things slip my mind like going to see a teacher about something.  So in 2017 my mum took me to a specialist to get diagnosed and it took three weeks to get the diagnosis so the first week my mum went to talk to the specialist and then the next week they spoke to me and had me do things like make up a story and draw and while I done that they took notes of the things I done it and what I done.

The third week was the week my mum was talk about weather I had ASD and I remember coming home from school and chilling watching YouTube on my laptop when my mum came into my room and sat on my bed and I thought right away 'what did I do now' and the words that sent shivers down my spine was " What am about to tell you doesn't change you, you are still who you have always been but you have Autism." I know some of you will think I was over dramatic but I wasn't I turned round and said "Okay".  Like it never made any difference to me cause I'm still the same person. Like it was just another part of me to love.
