Prologue

In the mountain range of Europe lies a small town surrounded by tall walls, keeping every citizen of the town stuck in there. Only a few have managed to escape but were soon hunted down and killed. The town was called Daingneach an Rìgh and it stays under strict surveillance for 24 hours every day. In the past 17 years, the town has been overpopulating so the government ordered a military-like group of people who call themselves, 'Avalon' to select 30 different citizens and have them killed to help reduce the population. The Government chose the citizens for the first time the 30 were eliminated but then Avalon threatened the Government into letting them choose the people who were killed.

Chapter 1

Alex stared at the letter laid in front of her, tears were forming in her eyes. Her sister Elizabeth was running from her room, tears fell from her eyes like a waterfall,

"ALEX, Gabbi, my best f-friend, She was chosen to be killed by Avalon!" Cried Elizabeth, she slowed down and stared at Alex.

"What's wrong, Alex?" asked Elizabeth, trying to calm herself down. Alex wiped her eyes and looked up at her sister,

"Remember that I love you, Elizabeth" whispered Alex. Elizabeth frowned in confusion,

"I mean I love you too sis but why are you telling me this now?" sniffled Elizabeth. Alex picked up the letter from the table and handed it to Elizabeth.

"Dear Miss Alex Hargrove, you have lived a fine life in Daingneach an Rìgh, but Avalon has chosen you for this year's execution. You will meet in the middle of town, by the blossom tree and be taken to the place of your death. S-sincerely signed, the Government house." Elizabeth fell to the ground and sobbed, she tried to speak but her emotions got the better of her and she couldn't manage any words. Alex put her hand over her mouth and held back tears as she watched her sister cry in pain. Elizabeth looked up at Alex once more and cleared her throat,

"What about, Venus?" Elizabeth looked down at her feet, "I don't know how to ride or look after a horse, you won't put her down will you?". Alex shook her head,

"I have a plan, it's worth risking it anyway because either way, I'm probably going to die". Elizabeth looked up from the ground,

"If you have a plan, I would like to help you!" stammered Elizabeth. Alex stared at her sister in astonishment,

"You want to help me? What if you get killed?" asked Alex. Elizabeth had stopped crying and stood up from the ground, dusting off her baby blue dress, she looked Alex straight in the eye.

"Alex, you are my sister, with Mum in hospital and Dad dead, you're my only family, I would do anything to keep you alive as long as possible, even if it means getting myself killed," said Elizabeth, her voice was cool and calm, she seemed to be well aware that she would most likely die, but now that she wants to help, there is nothing Alex could do to stop her. Elizabeth sat down and looked at Alex, ready to hear the plan.

Chapter 2

Alex thought for a moment, there was about a 7% chance that her plan could work, but the percentage was so low, the reality was that eventually in the next 2 days, she was probably going to be dead, every risk is worth it.

"In 2 days, I am to be executed, my plan is that when they open the gate and we start walking out, bring Venus to the front of the crowd, from there I will quickly mount her and run as farst as we can, we as in Venus and I, you must stay here" explained Alex. She hated how her plan would risk the survival of her sister but chances are, she would be executed eventually. Elizabeth nodded,

"The guards have guns though" whispered Elizabeth. Alex already knew that and had factored that in,

"Either way I'm probably going to be killed by Avalon, nothing can change that" said Alex. Elizabeth's eyes were dull, it was like she had expected her and her sisters death already, she quickly nodded and stood up,
