Invaders From Mars - Part Three

Start from the beginning

"Now what?" She aks.

"Celestia and I go into the TARDIS." The Doctor whispers back.

"Come along, then." Celestia stands up, taking The Doctor's hand as they exit the studio to go to The Tardis.

"Now, a little tweaking. Where are you, where are you?" The Doctor looks around once they're inside The Tardis.

"Now, what sort of frequency would hit the spot?" Celestia questions.

"This one?" The Doctor says as he presses something but it doesn't work.

"No, no. How about?" Celestia says as she presses another thing, causing a loud erratic noise to happen.

"Definitely not. Ah, maybe." The Doctor says as he presses another thing but this time there's only gentle humming.

"Well done, sweetheart." Celestia praises, kissing him on the cheek.

"Thank you." The Doctor chuckles as he gives her a quick peck on the lips but she pulls him down by his tie to give him a proper snog.

"That's it, Orson. Keep going." The Doctor says as they listen to Orson.

"How do we know it's working?" John asks.

"Shh." The Doctor shushes him.

"Charley, pop into the TARDIS, would you, keep an eye on their position." The Doctor tells her.

"Are you two off somewhere?" She asks.

"No, we want to go." Celestia says as The Doctor takes her hand and they exit again.

"People of the Earth, your attention. Your planet is now under Martian control. Surrender is not an option. We intend to, er, devastate your planet until it hangs like a cinder in Space." The Doctor starts talking in a strange voice.

"All life will be extinguished. We shall drain your rivers, er, level your mountains, annihilate your infestation from this world." Celestia adds something as well.

"How are we doing?" The Doctor whispers to Orson.

"Very good." Orson praises, whispering as well.

Then the door opens and Charley enters.

"I think they're on the move." Charley says.

"It worked." Chaney says.

"Looks like it." Celestia muses.

"Well Jack, it looks like we fooled 'em." Orson says.

"That's twice in one night." John says. "Look at them go. Half-way gone with whatever passes for a tail between their legs."

"It was quite a gamble Doctor." Chaney remarks.

"Oh yes, but broadcasting on their own high frequency must have helped. It certainly rammed home the message." The Doctor was saying when Celestia interrupts.

"Dear Rassilon." She sighs. "Please tell me we aren't on air anymore."

"Oh God, we're still on the air." John says, quickly turning it off.

" The signal's increasing, they're coming back." The Doctor says.

"Well, they obviously didn't get far. I wonder why." Celestia wonders.

"Still, rather neat, wasn't it?" The Doctor says.

"Oh, there's a lot to be sorted out. Biro's death for one thing." John says.

" Er, no, Jack, I got a call from the CIA, they have ways of covering up things like this. Actually they said they were expecting to hear from you, Mr Chaney." Orson says.

"Yeah well, er, that all counts for squat now. No merchandise, no nothin'." Chaney says.

"Thankfully." The Doctor says.

"But people must have seen things. I mean, spaceships over New Jersey?" Charley says, confused.

"Mass hysteria, Charley, and thanks to Orson and his friends, the CIA already have their cover story." The Doctor says.

"Which reminds me. Time to face the music." John says.

"The Press are outside?" Orson questions.

"Uh-huh." John confirms.

"Oh no. How do I look?" Orson asks to the group.

"You look like someone who's just about to become the most famous man in America." Celestia says.

"You think so?" Orson asks. "Say..."

"Come along, Orson." John says. Then they both walk off.

"What do you think, Jack? Abjectly apologetic, or humble but proud?" Orson asks while walking.

"Don't let them cut Ambersons!" The Doctor shouts.

"You mustn't interfere, sweetheart." Celestia says, taking his hand.

"Hey, Doctor, Celestia. You're resourceful people. You two want a job with prospects?" Chaney asks them, walking over.

"Already got one, thank you." Celestia says.

"And if I were you, Mr Chaney, I'd find myself a quieter occupation." The Doctor says.

"Unlike us, I daresay." Charley says, chuckling. "Hey, aren't we due in Singapore?" She asks to The Doctor.

"Yes, and we're eight years late. Best be off. Goodbye, Mr Chaney." The Doctor says. The trio starts walking off.

"But where are you?" Chaney asks them.

"Bye." Celestia turns around to take a one last look and they leave the room.
