It started as a pit. One that churns and turns until you can't breathe. It engulfs you into the dark until you want to throw in that little white flag and hope it brings you a sweet cool gulp of solidarity. But. But a part of you just can't let go. Letting go means that it wins. That 'they' win.
It brings such uncomfortable thoughts and feelings that you bury away and hope one day that the bag doesn't burst. Sex. More sex. Love making. Love. Emotions. Parenthood. Adulthood. Trauma. All into one bag that you just tuck away and hope for the best. The more we I run. The closer it become. The closer it is to me, I'm farthest from home. But? What does it matter when your home no longer feels like a home. Again, it started out as a pit. One that churns and turns until you can't breathe. One that ravages you whole til youre numb and it no longer burns. Eventually you, me, and all the others like us will turn numb to it. Where is my little white flag. The fires within.
