I got out of the car, looking around, my eyes shining. The first place we had decided to go on summer vacation was the beach, my absolute favorite place. It wasn't just the squawking seagulls, the hot sand, or the flipping dolphins. It was the water. Cold or hot, it was life. Riding the waves, diving into them... it was an amazing feeling. Not only that, but it provided life to plants and it's a daily role in survival.

I immediately dashed for the water, ignoring the hot sand that got in between my toes because I didn't bother to put shoes on. Luckily, the waves were high today; perfect for riding and diving. I leaped into the water without hesitation and shook my feet a bit, looking out at the horizon. It was calm right now, with no oncoming waves. I walked forward, lifting my feet high so the water didn't tug at my feet and make me trip.

Turns out, I was wrong. A monstrous-sized wave was coming towards the shore, seemingly in slow motion. I screamed because I wasn't ready; my knees weren't even under the water yet. I didn't keep walking, I completely froze in fear. This was it; I was about to die.

Just as I had expected, cold water crashed down on me, causing me to slam into the sandy bottom underneath. I felt shells and most likely crabs stab into my legs and arms before I flipped. I tried to move my arms but the wave was powerful. I couldn't swim upwards! I kept my eyes closed, struggling not to breathe in. This was it? I would drown?

Suddenly, somebody grabbed my arm and pulled me up. Charlie, perhaps? He was my brother after all and excelled at swimming, even better than me at it. I gasped for air as I came above the water, glad that whoever saved me had. Was it an angel bringing me to heaven?

I blink and opened my eyes and look around to see what heaven looks like. Funny! It looks just like.. like the ocean. I look around and spot a sexy teenager in front of me.

"Are you the guardian angel that is taking me to heaven?" I asked dryly, wrapping my arms around him waiting to go up, but nothing happens except him laughing and scooping me up in his arms like a baby.

"No, I'm not your guardian angel." He admitted and put me down but held onto my arm probably to make sure I didn't slip. I blinked. I had just wrapped my arms around a stranger that just happened to be sexy as hell. I blush but I walked forward, not wanting to be in the water anymore. What if I drowned? Who would help take care of Eliott, Charles, Hannah, and little Jess? Mom needed all the help she could get, especially with Lee at college and dad gone.

As soon as I feel wet sand beneath my feet, I hear my mom's frantic cries and I know she saw what happened.
