"Is he okay?" I asked.

I was sitting in the window, reading a book, when I saw Hank walking by. He stopped and looked at me. I smiled and waved. He waved back and then kept walking. I sighed. Poor Hank. He every time he accepts himself a little more, he kicks it back.

I was practicing my powers in the field. I pointed my hand out and the environment changed to show my 9th birthday party. I put my hand down and smiled, remembering what happened that day. I invited my friends over and we were blowing bubbles and flying kites that day. Charles was at school that day, so it was just my friends, me, and my parents. I saw 9-year-old me flying a kite with my dad. I smiled, seeing me and my dad smile.

"Emmy!" I heard my mom call. I looked to see her coming out with the birthday cake. She walked over and put it on the table. The kids, my dad and little me ran over. They sang happy birthday and little me blew out the candles. The illusion faded and it went back to normal. I turned around and saw Hank standing a few yards away. I smiled and walked over to him.

"Sorry, I just saw you practicing and I, uh..." He stuttered.

"It's okay, Hank." I said. "It's not like you were stalking me or something."

"No." He said. "But I'm just sorry if you thought I was."

"I didn't

"Tell you what, I'll race you back and the loser has to cook whatever the winner wants to eat." I said. "Deal?"

"Deal." He said. He took of his glasses and put them in his pocket. We turned to the house and stood side by side.

"Just be warned, if I kick your ass at this, don't take it personally." I said.

"Okay

I was leaning against the wall, out of breath. Hank just smiled at me.

"You...You...cheated." I said, trying to breathe. He chuckled. "That...wasn't...fair."

"Well, how about I cook something for the both of us since you're still struggling to breathe." He said.

"But...I...lost." I said.

"I don't mind." He said. "Honestly, it's fine."

"O...kay." I said. We walked inside.
