Problem on top of another problem

Start from the beginning

"Doctor?" Grace asked after she got no response which slightly annoyed her.

"Yes?" The Doctor answered.

"I only have one life. Could you remember that?" Grace requested from him. She didn't have the ability to regenerate like they did and she most certainly didn't want to die in a motorcycle accident.

"I'll try." The Doctor said in the most unconvincing voice.

"Thank you." she said though she wasn't entirely convinced that he would keep his promise.

They all stopped outside the Institute for Technological Advancement and Research.
"Oh, no. Doctor, look." Grace said. The Doctor looked at where she was pointing to see that the ambulance was already there.

"The Master was in that ambulance?" The Protector questioned.

"Yes." Grace confirmed it instead of the Doctor.

"Okay, I think we should split up." Celestia came up with a plan. "That way we can find the clock quickly." She said.

"Good idea." Her brother agreed with her. "Celestia and I will use the back entrance." He declared. "We really don't want to gather attention to ourselves."

"Oh do be careful." The Doctor warned them both but his attention was focused more on Celestia as he gave her hand a small squeeze.

"When don't we?" Celestia asked cheekily.

"You weren't careful when we were on-" The Protector couldn't finish his sentence as Celestia put a hand over his mouth to stop him from worrying the Doctor more.

"Yeah let's not go there." Celestia rolled her eyes at her brother. "Don't worry, we'll be fine." She told the Doctor. Then she walked away with her brother. The Doctor still worried over her even when he was the one in danger and she believed that maybe he wouldn't reject her like she thought he would.

The Doctor watched them go with a soft smile on his face. He really missed Celestia. It's been so long since they were on the good terms with each other and he decided that he couldn't bear the thought of staying away from her any longer. So after they closed the Eye of Harmony and defeated the Master, he was going to ask her to stay, to talk about the issue and solve it. He wasn't going to let her leave without resolving the problem. Thinking about all the things that he could say and do for her to make things better, he and Grace made their way through the throng to the reception desk.

"Doctor Grace Holloway and guest. Thank you." Grace said to the receptionist who welcomed them and let them in. They moved off to mingle.

"How will we get up there on the back of a bike?" She asked as she looked up at the clock which was too big. She believed that there was no way they would be able to take it and not gather any attention to themselves.

"We only need the tiniest piece of it." The Doctor whispered, looking around to figure out how he could get to the clock and where the twins went.

"People are starting to stare. Why don't we just make conversation?" She whispered too, then she spoke in a normal voice.  "So, time travel's possible?"

"Anything's possible." The Doctor shrugged it off.

"And why don't you have the ability to transform yourself into another species like the" she asked but she was unable to finish her sentence as she didn't know what to say.

"Well, I do, but only when I die." The Doctor cut her off.

"And that rival Time Lord, the Master?" She questioned further.

"He's on his last life, fighting to survive. And the science has shown us over and over, in the fight for survival there are no rules." The Doctor explained to her as calmly as possible.
