Sunlight shined brightly in my eyes, blinding me momentarily. I slipped out of bed and grabbed a paper from under my books. It read: My Bucket List, in scribbled, sloppy writing that looked like it was written by a little kid, which was likely considering that it actually WAS written by a little kid.
I had wrote it when I was only five, back when I didn't even know what a bucket list was. I sat back on my bed, reading it through.
1. Find the end of the rainbow
2. Meet a unicorn
3. Climb Mount Everest!
Teardrops plopped on the page as I read it over and over. Even though these were foolish goals, it made me realize that I was not dead, I was still alive...for now. I picked up a pencil and began to shakily write: 4. I stopped abruptly, wiped away my tears, crumpled the paper and chucked it into the corner angrily.
I got dressed, ate some waffles, and headed to school.
-------
I slid my tray across the table of food, scooping up some cold green beans and a lump of well, something. I sat at the table where my group belongs, the invisibles. There was the nerd table, at the very back, the invisibles, in the middle, and the populars, in the front. That's basically your average high school.
I sat quietly, as did everyone else at my table. My group never really talked, another part of what makes them invisible. Someone slid in beside me and set their tray down. I turned around to see Brian sitting next to me, smiling. My eyes widened. "Remember me?" he asked. "Why are you sitting HERE?" I stuttered, amazed. "Why not?" He asked me, his smile unwavering. Everyone at my table was turned toward us, their eyes widened as far as they could go.
I walked into the door and immediately slipped my practically one thousand pound backpack from my aching shoulders. It fell to the ground with a loud thud. I dragged it into the kitchen and saw that a note was pinned to the fridge. It read:
Aria,
I'm not going to be home until late. Their is some leftover stew in the fridge, just warm it up. See you soon.
Dad
I unpinned the note and set it on the counter, but then I saw that another paper was hidden underneath. It flitted to the ground.
Another note? I picked up the paper curiously and flipped it over to see the words.
