Off-Script

Chapter 16

"Since the day my eyes set on him, my life has become whole topsy-turvy!! Goodness knows what's happening with me!!!" she bickered out and rubbed her eyes and then wiped her face.

Throwing her head back on the head of the couch, Helly, half-heartedly  reached the script on the table and started reading when the above said lines were clearly in view.

"It was the words of the script" blinking her eyes she sat up properly.
Another drop escaped followed by another.... "Why am I crying? I already knew it's the word of the script" She shouted out on herself roughly wiping her eyes.

"You are in love with him" said her inseparable best friend.

"No I am not!! I love Roaan!!" She retorted back.

"Then why can't you accept the fact that he voiced a script??" Asked back her inner self and Helly felt her nerves forming a knot inside her brain. She just can't get a single answer. Frustrated she took the bottle of water and took a large gulp. She took further gulps and finished the bottle at once.

Sliding back on the couch, she closed her eyes and calmed herself out, "No.... I am here for work and I'll do my work. That's it. No confusion" she commanded herself and tried her level best to concentrate on the script.

Within half an hour she read the whole script. She mentioned down the important aspects of the characters and and made a petition for telecasting the show on OTT platform.

She then started working on the budget file when her phone started ringing.

She searched for it admist the mess when the ringer stopped. She looked below every page, over the files, inside her purse, sensed her jeans pocket and that's when her fingers brushed against the metal of the phone. She turned around to see her phone stuck at the crook of the couch.

She pulled it out, when it started vibrating again. She turned it around to look at the screen when the caller's name made her heart sank deep down.

With trembling fingers she received the call, "Yes?" She responsed with sharpness.

"Why didn't you go with him?!?!" Barked out a shrill voice, suspected to be a lady, from the other side of the phone.
"I asked you to not leave his side. How will you keep an eye on them?!! How will you get the pics?!?!......." she started barking on Helly at once.

Holding her cool, Helly tried to interrupt, "Look-" but she didn't seem to be in any mood to listen, ".......Don't you want your reward?"

"And what are you giving me in reward Joshua? Just a work under my boyfriend!!" Snapped Helly unable to take anymore.

"Oh.. So Miss Helly Shah seems fond of her dear Boss??" Helly heard the teasing voice of Joshua which irritated her to the core.
"I warned you not to fall in his pit!!" She completed and Helly found the boundary wall of her patience breaking.

"Listen Joshua, None! I repeat, none of your mentioned traits have I seen in him. He looks as well as I believe, is a genuine person. And moreover don't you dare think I don't know what kind of person you are?!?! I am not your puppet here. I did see the video..." said Helly at once warning her making the girl go silent in shock.
A smile of triumph flashed on her pretty face.

"Look Helly. It was made. He purposely made me do...." Helly heard her saying, surprisingly in a much calm tone, "....He gave me some sort of..sort of...drugs!! And these two... they party every now and then.... Don't you have an idea why?? They take up drugs" Helly heard Joshua saying.

"Drugs??" Released out Helly when she found her sinus hurting due to close knit of eyebrows.

"They both are alcoholic. Surely they buy drugs there. I'll send you some videos, just look at their faces, all red and dreamy and the way they are dancing, all due to excessive uptake of alcohol and drugs" Helly heard her speaking hurriedly in excitement or nervousness, she just can't spot.

"Send me" said Helly, her face still scrunched. 

"Okay I'll send you. Bye" said Joshua and cut the call at once.

Biting her lower lip, Helly placed the phone on the table and sat back staring at nothing particular. Her mind racing with fast juggling thoughts when the notification bell pulled her out of them.

She took her phone to see 3 videos received from Joshua.
She downloaded the videos and started watching them keenly one by one.

It was not just Rrahul and Nia but many other actors, dancing and having fun. All in casuals while their eyes seem red and face looked a bit blurry.

"Maybe because of the video quality or editing. If he would have been  an alcoholic, he wouldn't have hesitated to order an champagne just like Nia did, rather he ordered juice" Helly mumbled to herself.

"He is a double faced man" Helly's mind rewinded Joshua's words. Blowing out a deep held breath, Helly closed her eyes and now it was the time to rewind her conversation she just had with Joshua.

"Did she stammer while saying drugs?!?!"
"Oh God!!" 

Licking her bottom lip, she started mumbling aimlessly again, "What if.... Joshua is dying hard to falsely accuse him? He threw her out of the job after that incident.  Maybe she is using me to pull out her own agenda. Revenge??"

"Wait! How do Joshua know he went for look test?" The thought made the girl sit up.

She immediately gave the girl a call.
Waiting patiently for the other end to be received, the general manager started biting her short thumb nail.

She tried twice and thrice, but no one to receive.
"Where did she go in a minute??"
"What's going on??...But surely this women can't be completely trusted on" Helly affirmed herself. 

Hmmm.... So Joshua is the one whom Helly secretly meets...
