Interview with the Yokai

Chapter 3

" I was just a little tired this morning, it was a long weekend Yayaka-san," Shoji said and started eating.

" Oh I think we're familiar enough with each other now that you can call me Yayaka-chan, after all I think we've seen each other at our most exposed," Yayaka said already starting to flirt.

" Yes I think you're right Yayaka-chan," Shoji said not wanting to argue.

" There you go, now that wasn't so hard, do i don't mind when you're hard around me. Why didn't you call me to do research like i asked, i gave you my number," Yayaka said.

" Because no one would go to you to do research, now move over and give me and Noriko-chan some room," Mari said saving Shoji.

" Mari-chan, Noriko-chan, I was just..." Yayaka started saying.

" Yea, yea, I think it was clear what you were doing. Anyway, we're here to warn Shoji-san to be careful around the ice queen," Mari said in a bored tone.

" That's not very nice, i won't have you bad mouth my friend," Yayaka said, dropping her flirty tone and taking on a serious one.

" We don't mean to bad mouth her, it's just that we don't think she's let go of her anger. You saw how she acted, it's probably best if Shoji kept his distance," Noriko said.

" At first I had planned to just stay clear of all of you, especially her, but I get the feeling, this isn't just going to blow away. I should apologize to her, but i don't think she'll give me a chance," as the words left Shoji's mouth he realized how unfair his words must sound. He had done the samething to all these girls that he had done to Benihime, but here he was talking about apologizing to her, when he had them in front of him and hadn't had the courtesy to apologize to them. Regardless of the fact that he hadn't done it on purpose, Shoji had seen each of the girls naked against their wishes and they had seen him naked against their wishes and it had been caused by him. They might be yokai, but they were still girls, if he had done the same to normal girls he would have apologized.

" I'm such a buffoon, I'm sorry," Shoji said. All the girls looked at him surprised.

" Well I agree you're a buffoon, but if you apologize for that, you won't have much time to do anything else in your life," Mari said.

" No I'm not apologizing for being a buffoon, I'm apologizing for what happened Friday, I didn't do it on purpose, but still I owe you all an apology," Shoji said.

" It's ok Shoji, no one blames you for what happened, you don't have to apologize," Noriko said in a timid voice.

" No I owe you each an apology and you Noriko-chan I owe a thank you," Shoji said looking the girl right in the eyes. Noriko blushed and then turned her head away.

" I didn't know you were such a gentlemen, keep saying nice things like that and every Friday might be like last Friday," Yayaka said, leaning in so that her ample chest was propped up by the desk.

" Yea and if he's not careful the ice queen will finish what she started Friday," Mari said.

Yayaka gave Mari a dirty look, but said, " She's right it's best you resolve things quickly, I know her and time won't heal this wound, you hurt her pride."

" I would apologize, but like I said, I don't think she'll listen to me or talk to me," Shoji said.

" You just be at the roof after class today, i'll take care of the rest," Yayaka said. With that they finished lunch and went back to their seats when class started.

Shoji was waiting on the school's roof, thinking about what he would say to Benihime and how things would end up going. Shoji wished that he could have been able to think up some grand apology, while he was in class, but he couldn't split his concentration between the lessons and his personal worries. The true question was, if there was anything he could say that would make things right between him and Benihime? He had never thought the girl capable of violence, let alone of holding a grudge, then again he never really knew the girl, just the idolized version he had of her.
