good vs bad.

I always had an incredible fascination with the history of America.

Then again, it's like hearing a different bed time story in each era as we learn of times that were so incredibly different from how they are now. It's nothing short of intriguing to me as I would call myself nothing but a complete nerd when spending so much time and energy in educating myself on America.

At the same time though, I'd like to say that I spend so much time studying it because I have such a difficult time wondering how things became the way they are now. I've listened and studied and read so much about the transition time between now and then but it seems to be a whole block of information missing as I can't make sense of the sudden turn of events.

After all, it looks like one day things were completely normal and people were going about their normal lives and then the next, everything changed.

It seems as if the main person to blame was our elected president at the time, Samuel Tyler, but I don't know if he's entirely to blame considering no one made the effort to change what he put into motion during his presidency.

It will continue to be puzzling to me as none of it manages to make sense. But how can something so sudden and drastic just make sense if there's not an ample amount of evidence as to why it happened?

    "Hey, love?"

Looking up from my book I'm reading, regarding the disastrous year that was 2020, I spot my boyfriend Nate from across the counter, looking to me as if he needs something.

    "Yes?"

"Do you mind running next door and grabbing batteries? I need it for the coffee machine... I don't know why I didn't just buy a plug in one but this looked nicer and now I'm stuck replacing the batteries every other day."

I laugh, placing my book down and nod my head as I stand from my chair.

    "Of course."

After all, that is what I'm quite literally wired to say. Having been deemed "good" at my birth, I feel no bad urges, and instead, only ever say good things, and do good things, and indulge in good things. It's not that it's a robotic feature that controls what I do and don't say, it's just that I've grown into my habit of being good and only ever wanting to do good things because of how I was wired at birth.

I can't imagine saying or doing something that could be harmful to another person. The thought is unfathomable.

The same goes for the others who were also deemed good at birth which is why we stick with our people. This separation has created a division that naturally draws good people with good people and bad people with bad people.

    The two never cross.

You stick with your people and you don't interact with anyone who differs from you and in order to symbolize the type of person you are, you either wear a gold necklace or a silver one.

You're given a necklace at birth that is big enough to stay with you the rest of your life in order to ensure you don't cross paths and build connections with people who are outside of your trait. Therefore, all shops need to have a good and bad employee in the shop at all times in order to interact with their people if needed.

Not only that, but a microchip is surgically implanted into your arm in order to control you your first few years of your life and wire your brain to react accordingly. We're forced to keep them in there in order to stay wired the way we are and prevent ourselves from the temptations of the other side.
