Abstraction

They say it's just a chemical stimulation,

A flash between nerves, a stipulation

from the head of the human HQ

to the lower castes. That's what they say ‒

That all is explainable by science,

But really, now. Can control over life

be explained by science? What does science say

About choices?

You heard me right. Choices. The ability

to be the ventriloquist manipulating

the dummy, or the misfortune

of becoming the manipulated dummy.

It could be a quiz, the tick

of a box, the hasty scrawl

of a single word, or the shout

of an answer in the heat of the moment.

Jobs too. Whether you want to be

a lawyer who spits out facts all day

or a freelancer who works to their heart's content

is your decision in the end.

I also thought about intellect.

One thought of one person

led to others making decisions that changes

the course of their life forever ‒

The path of life in which they must

Choose the way they want to follow,

select the right answers to the puzzle

to open the chest and see the treasure.

There's also the matter of yin and yang,

Good and evil, lin and gan,

Belief in the spiritual, black and white intertwined,

both so different in essence, yet so similar

That they will only live if they

Coexist, for if ripped apart, they will

Disintegrate, and as a result,

Perished shall be the human race ‒

Yes, the opposites of nature.

Those of opposing gender:

Male and female, founders of world population

and all by choice of a higher power.

If life were a video game, I'd be

the controller. To create

with the click of a switch, to destroy

With the pull of a trigger...

... But there's another. The ventriloquist

of the whole puppet show,

the mastermind

Of the most complex structures known.

Our choices are the outcome, in the end.
