Start from the beginning

Maria almost groans when she sees the woman headed there way but frowns when she sees the urgent expression on her face.

"You two—Potter, Black." Minerva says, pointing at the two sat beside each other, as she said the names a wave of nostalgia and deja vu hit her. "Come, quickly."

The duo frown, Regulus grabbing Maria's hand as they hurriedly stand up and take large paces to keep up with the woman as she leads them out of the hall.

"Your brothers, they're injured."

"Injured?" Maria panics, looking at Minerva frantically. "Seriously—is it bad?"

"They'll live, Potter." Minerva tried to ease the girl's nerves. "A few bruises and broken bones, nothing Poppy can't fix."

"Wh—they're here?" Regulus asks in confusion and Minerva nods.

"Must've apparated to Hogsmead after the attack." Minerva says as the trio move towards the hospital wing.

"Attack?" Maria frowns, Regulus squeezing her hand comfortingly. "Where?"

"Diagon Alley, the whole alley is in bits." Minerva says sadly as they open the hospital doors and Maria sees James stood, getting his forehead bandaged by Poppy who's scolding him for laughing at Sirius who looks sour as he lies on the bed with a bandage around his foot and leg.

"James!" Maria says in relief, running over and wrapping her arms around his neck, the collision making James stumble and wrap an around and his sister's back, since his other's sprained. "What happened?"

"We were in Flourish and Blotts for that bloody woman." James says, holding up a picture he keeps of Lily. "Wanted a new herbology book to get Aluce for her birthday—"

"'oh it's alright' he says, 'me and Sirius will pop there for you'." Sirius rolls his eyes, hissing in pain when Poppy examines his hurt leg. "Never again."

"Oh." James deadpans when he sees Regulus stood behind Maria and the young Black brother rolls his eyes slightly at the Potter's boy's tone.

"Are you okay?" Regulus asks Sirius, despite the burning urge to hit him.

"Fine." Sirius shrugs, pointing to his injured leg. "Broken ankle though, hurts like a bit—"

"Language, Mr Black." Poppy scolds and Sirius gives her an innocent smile.

"You can calm me Sirius you know Pops." Sirius states, taking out a few chocolate frogs and throwing one to Maria and one to Regulus, another to Poppy and Minerva. "Before you ask, you don't bloody get one." James gives his friend an incredulous look.

"Why?"

"Because, if your girlfriend had never existed, we wouldn't be here in this mess." Sirius says and Maria frowns for a second.

"And that's actual logic?" She asks making the boy sigh and take a bite out of his chocolate.

"That's tax, Poppy." Sirius states, pointing at the chocolate frog the healer placed on the table next to Sirius' bed. "For this." He gestures to the bandage on his leg.

"Of course it is." Poppy sighs, walking off into her office and Sirius chuckles.

"They came and went quick, a few spells and all." James states, sitting in a chair next to Sirius' bed as Regulus had done the same a few minutes ago. Maria sits across Regulus' lap, leaning sideways into him. "Completely took out one of the joke shops with an explosion."

"It was mental." Sirius sighs, running a bruised hand through his dark hair.

"I bet." Maria whispers, twirling Regulus' rings.

"You're like. . .okay with this?" Regulus asks James gesturing between him and Maria.

"What—oh, I don't care about my sisters sex life—to an extent." James says trying to sound more intimidating as he wasn't paying attention. "Hurt her again though Black, and it's game over."

"Shut up, James." Maria laughs and James chuckles at his sister, going into conversation with Sirius about the fact that James had saved Lily's book but had to go back for Sirius who had temporarily forgot how to apparate.
