"You can do it Pico! I know you can!"
It seemed like he froze, before he smirked, singing his verse at Keith.
And just like that, he broke the tie, and won against Keith.
Cherry smirked at you before playing the next song to let them battle it out again.
You thought closely. You were really tempted to battle him yourself, hoping maybe to prove yourself against everyone.
Cherry cheered Keith on as she clapped. You couldn't allow that.
You called out for Pico again, cheering him on as the two had an even more tense second battle. You could definitely tell he was hearing you, because his words got even more powerful from your cheers.
The battle was intense, but this time, Kieth came out as victorious, putting them in a tie. You then whispered to Cherry. "Does Pico have a third song?"
She blinked, nodding, as she soon watched you push yourself down the speaker, walking over with a nervous smile. "Hey..Pico, mind if I battle you this round..?"
You were willing to embarrass your voice in front of everyone to impress them.
And hopefully Pico as well.
He then smirked towards you, gripping his gun.
"Bring it on, Y/N."
As you stepped forward, Keith handed you his microphone, giving you a thumbs up before sitting up in the speakers next to Cherry.
You took a deep breath as you gripped the microphone, Cherry counting them down before starting the music.
"3.. 2.. 1.. go!"
The beat started off lightly, in a way it reminded you of a siren.
The beat then grew intense as Pico gripped his gun, singing towards you with a strong voice, but not as strong as his last song.
Was he going easy on you..?
You narrowed your eyes as he finished his part. You took a deep breath, singing against him intensely, trying to keep him from going easy. He smirked as you finished your part, becoming extremely anxious as now everyone had their attention on you.
Cherry and Keith cheered for you, as you two sang back and forth for a moment before the beat grew light, making your breath a bit heavy from anxiety as Pico sung to it. You sung back, and as soon as your lyrics ended, the beat dropped heavily. It felt like it was only you and him on a lone battle field, and Pico's power and words grew very strong. He then reached his gun forward before dropping it, kicking it away to the beat as he continued to sing his strong words.
You might of bitten off more than what you could chew here.
You didn't give up though. Grabbing the microphone tightly, you sung with confidence and spirit, messing up a little, but you didn't care. Pico sung with you in unison before he sung alone once again. You had the illusion it was just him and you, and for whatever reason, you didn't mind if it was only him listening.
A subway flew past the both of you, blowing your hair with the wind. He seemed surprised with you, but he sang back with furious vocals and lyrics.
You thought of a good comeback that was slightly different, singing fiercely before reaching the high notes, your eyes glaring at Pico as you felt strong emotions you've never felt before. Kind of an intensity. You've never felt so good singing before. You've never sung so loud either.
The beat lightened again, and he sung back as light as the beat was. You continued singing against him with fierce power, despite how terrible you realized it sounded.
After you sung back and fourth again, you ended the song with a furious note before stopping, gaining your breath as you panted lightly.
But you saw everyone again.
Every. Single. Person.
The intense feel-good feeling felt like intense guilt and regret as you felt your body naturally tense up as you looked around at everyone staring at you.
You should of took your antidepressants again.
As the song was put to a stop though, everyone cheered. Especially Cherry, as she jumped forward, hugging you tightly.
"Y/N! You did great! I'm so proud of you!"
They were cheering. Cheering for you.
But you sounded absolutely terrible.
So why..?
You slightly hugged back as you looked towards Pico, who looked slightly proud, chuckling as he gave quiet claps.
"Y/N, why don't you sing like that more often? You don't sound as bad as you think you do, alright? I promise." Cherry asked, backing away as you stared at her before looking away nervously.
Although, even though you lost against Pico, you knew this was definitely the best day of your life. You felt happy. Why couldn't you feel it every day..?
Pico picked up his gun again, stepping forward towards you. You backed away from Cherry to look over at him.
"You wanna talk for a moment while they do their rounds?" He questioned.
You seemed nervous before nodding in hesitation. You then turned to Cherry. "Hey, Cherry, me and Pico are going to chat for a bit, alright? You can start without us."
She smiled, nodding and waving before climbing onto the speaker again. Pico lead you away from the group, and your body was tense. Mostly tense from singing like that.
He turns to you when you two were a decent distance away from the group. "I can already tell you think negatively on your voice. You do, don't you?" He asked with narrowed eyes. You sigh, frowning. "I sound like a dying cat, I've never even sung that loud before."
He smirked slightly. "That just makes you more impressive. Look, Y/N, listen. Everyone has been at their point in life where their singing sounded bad. Everyone goes through it, you gotta start off somewhere, right?"
You listened to him as he made some good points, slowly nodding. "I suppose."
"Cherry's right, ya'know." He sighed. "You don't sound as bad as you think you do. But if you truely think that, then how about I lend you some help?"
He set his gun aside before putting his hands on your shoulders. "If you think you sound so bad, which you don't, I'll help you improve on singing. But singing improves alone with practice. You just need to believe in yourself, alright?"
You couldn't help but to slightly smile. If Pico brings that gun everywhere, then him setting it aside means he's warming up to you. You were glad. But you appreciated his words greatly. "Thank you, Pico. It's just.. singing is one of my greatest passions, yet.. I'm so bad at it."
Pico look dumbfounded for a moment. "You serious? Thats full bullshit, if I went easy on you like I originally wanted to, you would of kicked my ass. You have the spirit, Y/N. The spirit and power. You just need to practice singing. But you sound great already."
You couldn't help but to slightly giggle at his words, making him smirk slightly. He took his hands off your shoulders, picking up his gun and twirling it before putting it in his pocket. "Here, let me see your phone real quick."
You stared at him in confusion before handing him your phone. He typed something in it before giving it back. You noticed he added his phone number. "Now we can keep in contact." He snickered as he saw your face flush slightly. You took a deep breath, smiling slightly. You sent up a text so he then had your phone number before backing away.
"Let's head back. They're waiting for us." You spoke to him. He nodded, turning away towards the group again.
You stood there for a quick moment looking at your phone, looking at his name.
Pico
You stared at it before giving a slight change.
Pico🏵️
You knew it was probably girly to add a flower to his name, but you couldn't resist. It's how you thought about him.
You thought he was strangely sweet.
You then turned off your phone, walking back towards the group with a happy sigh. It was a long day.
