THE SUMMER BEFORE HER FRESHMAN YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL, aspiring NASA scientist Millie Morones was jumped by wanna-be gangbangers and left for dead. To protect her, her family shipped off to spend her summer with her grandparents in the motherland until gang violence died down. But when home gets too dangerous, she comes back to Freeridge early to live with her aunt temporarily.
Unbeknownst to her, local gang leader, Oscar Diaz, also returns home, fresh out of jail. By happenstance, she just so happens to be his new across the street neighbor. And thus, a domino effect of past secrets are revealed causing both of them to rely on one another for safety.
