Katsuki noticed a tray with a set of breakfast was on the desk and some of the tension left his body with the knowledge he didn't have to go downstairs just yet. His gaze drifted to where the nightstand used to be and he still couldn't believe Aizawa just removed it as soon as he told him he hated it. If he knew it was going to be so easy, he would've started with that on the first day. Sleeping in a bed made a big difference regarding his always aching wounds, that were sort of okay this morning. He couldn't wait for something to fuck up this day, too, and the realization hit him like a train: He was going to school with Eyebags for the first time today.
He let out a frustrated groan before finally crawled out of that surprisingly soft bed, knowing he had a whole day of suffering awaiting for him.
Hitoshi waited for Katsuki at the door before they got going, because the blond decided to wait until the last minute to come downstairs so they could leave. Hitoshi said bye to their parents while Katsuki's attempt of a bye was the softest grunt. The walk to the train station was awkward and silent as Hitoshi didn't know what to say and Katsuki was technically mute. When they got on the train and Hitoshi sat down, he watched the blond sit two whole seats away from him instead of sitting next to him.
Hitoshi wanted to apologize. He wanted to explain Katsuki that he's not villainous and had no intention of actually hurting him, but... Katsuki refused to even look him in the eye. Hitoshi was certain he wouldn't walk with him if he knew how to get to school by himself.
Before they walked into the classroom, Hitoshi finally gathered his courage to speak up: "Are you not talking to me because you're still mad or you're afraid I'll use my quirk on you?"
Katsuki shot him a deathly glare before opened the door of the classroom. Their homeroom teacher greeted them and asked the class to quiet down, then told Katsuki to introduce himself to the class while Hitoshi took his seat which was in front of Denki's. His friend gave his back a gentle pat then shot him an excited grin to greet him quietly right before Katsuki managed to speak up in front of the class, giving an even worse first impression than Hitoshi expected him to.
"Name's Katsuki Bakugou. I'm better than all of you extras. That's all you need to know." The blond croaked his first words all morning, standing taller than Hitoshi has ever seen him, radiating a sense of confidence as took the empty seat in the third row like he owned the place.
Hitoshi felt his back being poked again and turned to Denki, slightly glancing at Katsuki on his seat as the teacher tried to get over the terrible introduction. Denki smiled at him awkwardly as whispered: "So he's your new brother in the flesh, huh?"
"Yeah, don't... don't tell anyone, okay?" Hitoshi whispered back as tore his gaze from Katsuki.
"Sure. What's wrong, dude?" Asked Denki, drifting his gaze between him and Katsuki, who was sulking at his desk, scribbling into his notebook silently.
"I'll tell you later." Hitoshi whispered and turned towards the teacher before they would get scolded for talking in class.
During their first break, Hitoshi told Denki what happened while they took a walk on the playground. He only felt worse by each moment as guilt was heaving on his shoulders, no matter how Denki tried to cheer him up. He didn't expect to find a few kids around Katsuki's desk when they got back to the classroom. They were all laughing at... something and seemed to have an intense conversation, then as Hitoshi walked further in the room, he glanced Katsuki still at his desk, laughing with their classmates around him.
Wait a minute. He knew how to laugh?
"Man, Bakugou, you're so funny!" Said one of the kids, who Hitoshi never really talked to.
