You slowly uncurled as he disappeared without a word, your ears flicking warily to every sound you picked up on, tensing involuntarily as the tiniest of rustles echoed from outside the tent. You hated this. You hated living like this.

You couldn't even remember when was the last time you felt remotely alive.

Jumping when the flap to the tent flew open as a hulking figure of one of the guards you darted past earlier announced his presence, the sunlight blinded you for a second but you saw your chance and took it.

Scurrying with your tail tucked between your legs, you dashed outside before he could stop you.

There was a small ledge outside, you could hear the way the ground shook when people leapt down from it. If you could make it to that and jump, maybe you could lose him.

It was unlikely, since if he lived here that meant that he was used to the height and would probably just chase you anyways until you reached the border. It didn't matter. You didn't have any other choice.

You needed to escape and you needed to do it right now.

You heard the guard curse behind you at the speed you ran at, caught off guard and you heaved a sigh in relief as you managed to zip out of his reach but in that moment of distraction, you weren't paying attention to where you were going.

You crashed into someone, sending the both of you toppling to the ground. Landing on top of them with an 'oof', you blinked up and saw those same angry red eyes from earlier. Yelping, you scrambled off of him and tripped, colliding into another very solid chest.

"Whoa there!!" A friendly voice greeted you warmly as they steadied you from behind, large hands settling on your shoulders as you regained your balance.

You twisted your head around, blinking cluelessly up at the guy who caught you. He had striking red hair and your nose twitched, a wide smile immediately splitting across your features as his familiar scent hit your senses and dug up a long forgotten memory.

"Kiri?!" You squealed breathlessly, still high off of adrenaline as you threw your arms around his neck.

Kirishima laughed heartily as he caught you, spinning you around. "Little Y/N!!"

You pouted as he set you back down on your feet, giving him that same sassy attitude you used to have when you were kids as your heart began to calm down. "I'm not little anymore!!"

He ignored you, ruffling your hair fondly. Minding your ears as he remembered how sensitive they were, he drew you in for the huge hug that this unexpected reunion called for.

Bakugou scoffed, picking himself off of the dirt and poked your forehead. By now, you had caught the attention of everyone in the middle of the camp from down below but he didn't care. It wasn't like they could hear any of you from there and he was fairly sure that they would lose interest soon after observing you for a while.

"You know this runt?" He grunted to Kirishima.

"Hey!!" You cried indignantly.

The king arched an eyebrow, surprised you were talking back to him now when you had seemed so shy earlier. The 180 amused him greatly but he masked it behind an expression of practiced boredom.

At least you weren't crying anymore. That probably had something to do with Kirishima's presence. His second-in-command was always better with hybrids than he was.

It wasn't his fault that being part animal always made them so damn sensitive. Humans were brazen, blunt and fucking awesome.

Oh wait, that was just him.
